MyLink issues since IOS9

I have had the issue since first day of owning the truck(May-2015). I fly a lot so removing all music from my iPhone would be more of an inconvenience. I will start my search of replacement head units to hopefully remedy the problem and gain carplay. If anyone has any recommendations that do not require too much trim work at dash, please share.

I'd wait it out for another week or two for an iOS update. It can't be on GM's side as they haven't updated their system for quite some time as mentioned above. Unless of course you just want a new head unit anyway. Check out crutchfield for units that fit your truck, you won't have to trim anything to replace the oem unit.

Clearing the music off my phone didn't help, I'm thinking it was working since I had it plugged straight into the truck when I first tried it again. But now I can't remember if I had any calls or just had texted a few times after wiping the music off. Yesterday I had it plugged in charging, but it was plugged into the outlet with the apple charger, and not directly to USB. Soon as I got off a call, radio went to Bluetooth screen and just sat there since I had no music on the phone.

Mine will start playing with music app closed if my phone is selected when I start truck. If another media source is selected it will not play from phone

Just checked with the service dept. They got nothing. Time to yell at Apple again.

Fat fingered and shot from the hip.

So you can run Waze, the app speaks, and then what happens after that? If you were listening to the radio, does the radio restart

Listening to radio; wake gives an update; then music from phone starts playing from a playlist; I have to push radio button to get back to listening to radio.

I noticed Google Maps works fine as long as you have "Play as Bluetooth phone call" activated. It doesn't seem to work at all for me when "Play voice over Bluetooth" is only activated. Seems Waze needs to update their software to work with whatever tricks Apple has inserted in their OS.

I haven't used waze for a good while. I had another issue with it a while back. Escort redline replaced my use for waze lol.

After a lengthy chat with apple support again today, apparently the Bluetooth connection was never supposed to revert back to a previous function after completing. The issues we have with iOS 9.2 are supposed to be default. They say you have to manually select the Intellilink function you want to use.

Maybe just a 2015 thing. iPhone 6 Plus here running 9.2 and I have none of these issues. I can make a phone call, use Siri, etc etc and it always goes back to the radio station I was listening to. The only time it plays music from my phone is if I push the Media button, or have my phone selected as the audio source already when I start the truck.

That's BS. It should always revert back to previous.

Just got off Apple chat. They haven't had any reports yet. I'd suggest flooding their chat windows. I'm going in for service tomorrow and am asking about software updates.

That's complete crap. I personally reported it via the Bug Report tool at least a couple of days ago. Along with a STACKLOAD of other people from various forums.

How could or would this be a GM issue when they haven't updated the software in months to years now? Apple is notorious and known for messing up simple BT protocols and always has been known to be difficult in the industry.

It is an APPLE thing. They mucked with the behavior of the BT in 9.2 and now it doesn't work right at all.

Sorry. Nothing coming down the pike. Apple will need to have a significant number of DIFFERENT issues reported before they will consider releasing an update for this as they never put out code updates to address only one thing.

Yup. Typical new bad behavior.

So, in other words, EVERY SINGLE VERSION of iOS released prior to 9.2 was not behaving properly and it took Apple until now to "get it right"? That rep couldn't have been more wrong.

I've made up my mind - I'm going back to Android. This issue is irritating me to no end, and that's ON TOP of the whole "having to change my audio behavior to NOT port sound through BT every time it connects to the truck".

I am sick and tired of Apple telling ME how my device is allowed to work. Defaults are one thing. Adjustments, settings, and preferences are another. Since Apple doesn't believe in the latter, I'm defecting.

I used to be able to plug my phone in with USB and listen to Spotify through the USB connection.

Since iOS9 the only music app I can use while connected with USB is Apple Music. Whenever I go to open Spotify it will play music for 2-3 seconds before reverting to Apple Music

Also, I can't listen through Bluetooth when connected to usb either.

So dumb.

I just picked up a 2015 Denali 2500HD. I am not positive this is an Apple issue. I notice that with WAZE my GMC activates bluetooth audio to play the WAZE messages. In my VW, my wifes Honda, and my friends BMW Waze actives the phone app when it plays messages. All of these vehicles have been tested with iPhone 6s Plus running 9.2 code. I think GM is fundamentally handling the bluetooth connection differently. Does anyone know if there is a way to submit a bug request to GM?

I agree with it being a Chevy/GMC issue. I have also noticed when others get into my truck and connect their phone(bluetooth or cable) the unit takes it upon itself to capture/play from their device. Sort of like an "auto play" feature. In all of my other vehicles(Hondas) the human has the deciding factor of when/what to play.

I guess I could be wrong. I just got off a chat with GMC. They say that IOS 9.2.1 has a patch to address the issue. It still does not make sense to me on how this is a phone issue when other vehicles do not show the same symptoms.
