2016 Sierra Denali - Build page online

I've been waiting to finally see the build page. The Denali page went online today, I imagine the others are soon to follow

Things to note -

6.2 is still $2495. I thought it may drop back down to $1995 since the 8 speed is standard on the Denali now.

Shear and hydraulic body mounts with hydraulic powertrain that reduces vibrations - Is this different than the 14/15s?

Looks like the 5.3 comes standard with 8 speed / 3.42. This is great news, especially if the SLT is the same. No interest in 3.08's and since the 8 speed has more aggressive gearing than the 6 speed, this will provide "more" gear than even the 6 speed / 3.73 max tow package on the 14-15's.

Edit - you can build the lower trim 2016's Sierras too. Just build a 2015 and click the 2016 tab.

3.42 / 8 speed standard - NICE!

Oh, and Crimson Red Tintcoat looks amazing on the build page. I didn't quite like the Sonoma red, but this new color is beautiful.

Really interested to see if we can buy those hydraulic body mounts and install them on our 14/15 trucks. That would definitely be a purchase I would be willing to make.

The price of the rear seat DVD went up by $600 along with only 3 non-premium colors really adds up.

I was planning to order an SLT with 5.3 and max tow package, interesting that it's a 3.42 now that the 5.3 has the 8 speed.

I could swear I read somewhere that all 6.2s came with the larger rear end of the Max tow package, maybe that's part of the premium over the 5.3 with 8-speed.

I've read the 5.3 would get 3.42 standard with the 8 speed. Why do you think it's an error?

Because on the 2015 6.2 8spd the 3.23's were the highest you could go, 3.42's weren't even an option on the 2015 8spd. I don't know the exact gear ratios on the new 8spd, but I just think that paired with the 3.42's you would get really short gearing.

I'm not complaining, I think it would be awesome. Especially on the less powerful 5.3. I think it would really bring it up and compete with other more powerful trucks on the market.

Also, besides the GM website truck builder I haven't read anything saying 3.42's would be an option on the new 8spd trucks. If you have anything post it up.

I am with you on this, GM is going for mpg numbers, no way you are getting 3.42's unless max tow package is ordered.

Like you I say bring on the 3.42's as I love deep gears and we all know it takes rpm to push a truck down the highway so having to downshift at every hill and lug doesn't get it anywhere anyways.

Having said all that the 8-speeds 1st gear is lower then the 6-speeds so even with 3.23 gears it still has a lower 1st gear then a 6-speed 3.42 and much better holeshot.

Really? I was not aware that this was possible.

The GM fleet order guide shows 3.42 gears with the 8 speed and 3.08 optional (for the 5.3). Press release for the Silverado specifically says 3.42 / 8l90 and 5.3, but 3.23 / 8l90 for the 6.2. The Sierra is generalized and I believe incorrect because it just says 3.23/ 8l90 with the max tow going to 3.42.

Ram uses 3.92 and the 8 speed. Sure it's to make up for an overweight truck and their taller tires make the gears more like 3.73 / 8 speed. But 3.42's with 8 speed is not unrealistic, would be a great combo.

I do believe 3.08's will be an option.

I think the 8 speed paired with the 3.42's is an error.

My max tow 2015 with the 6.2 and 8 speed has the 3.42 gearing..

Max tow 6.2 (3.42) was late availability for the 2015's. Initially promised for mid Jan, they didn't start to build until something like March.

5.3 6 speed will likely be as before 3.42/3.73 options
