I began hearing a noise yesterday and almost sounds like a pulley goof bad or belt noise. It gets louder as the truck gets warmer. Sounds like a squeak/rubbing noise. Any ideas it's a 2015 Silverado 5.3 with 6k miles on it.

I'm going in the morning.. Just trying to get ideas before hand. It sounds near the water pump. Maybe belt noise.

Not being sarcastic, but the new motors have so many different sounds than my 2011 Silvy 5.3L, it's hard to tell. I've come to know the fuel pump and injector noises, but hard to tell others...good to hear you're taking her in.

took mine in for the transfercase update and mentioned the same noise. lol they claimed it was to do with the fuel injection I have been a mechanic for 35 years/ so I said to him that he was a retard to think I was going to believe that. he said just a weird noise we will fix when there is a failure lol, which is lots of luck,

They replaced the water pump! No more noise!

FYI

Only makes noise after truck was warmed then let cool some and after it rewarmed

These engines are so much quieter it's making any other noise sound that much louder. jzalidvar's noise isn't a normal noise on the new engine -- there was definitely something wrong, a water pump in this case. Just about every guy that stops and listens to the new engine will hear the injector noise and think noisy lifter though. It's completely normal, has been since direct injection gas engines have been sold.

I noticed the same noise a few weeks ago, stopped by a dealer and the service tech said water pump. Scheduled an appt. for Monday morning to have it replaced. 19,000 miles on her. And the 3rd warranty issue since purchase! GM quality .

So these water pumps have 20k mile Chinese bearings in them now?

Just took my 2015 Silverado in this morning for a hair line crack in the waterpump housing causing it to leak coolant.

no noise though. It has only 1800miles on it. sucks

I did not realize water could crack (unless it is frozen of course).

I wonder what the failure rate is on these water pumps.

Gm needs to find some new sources for water pumps. The some Chevy Traverse's and the other Lambda's all have failer issues as well.

At least on the Trucks it's an easier repair.

Found the Tread! Yup, it's me got the bad Water pump! Freaking Dealer turned me around.....Could NOT DUPLICATE SOUND!

They fix my Tranny programming......don't fill the crankcase with correct amount of oil....and can't replicate the noise I am screaming! I must have gone to my local dealer?
