What else have you done to the truck? Most 6.2's put down 320-340. Even bolt ons and custom tune will have a hard time getting to 400 no? Best of luck, let us know how it works out.

E85 conversion might get him there.

I've gain 60hp 70tq on my 5.3 with e85 and headers basically.

did you use factory gaskets on your install or a set or aftermarket ones? Do you get a pronounced ticking in the cabin under load?

I used a new set of factory gaskets.

I don't recall a noise like that, I know I can hear some header pinging, but nothing crazy.

Clearly no loss of tq on his chart. If anything he gained a few HP down low. This is what i have been telling people but some refuse to listen even with charts. Different engines respond differently to headers. Once you remove the stock manifolds and see how restricrive they reallllyyy are it all makes sence.

Hopefully i can get mine on a dyno soon. Tuner and i are aiming for 400 to the wheels all motor..... WITH 33s

Dyno tuned my 6.2 with intake and headers recently....386/419 were the numbers...oh, also on 33s and 20x10s

I should note my numbers are with 33" LT e rated tires.

6.2 is only about 60ish or so more HP then a 5.3.... Plus we have done head work already and have a couple of custom grind cams...

Also on E85, no reason a 5.3 cant make 400 to the wheels N/A..... Its already been done.

You 6.2L guys need to quit thinking that your engines are made by gods and forged by the hammer of Thor lol

Excuse me if I didn't sift through everything to find what mods you had done. I was under the impression you had a 6.2 and were Doin bolt ons like I did. I know on e85 the 5.3s run like raped apes. My buddy has one. Figured I'd share what I had done.

Oh by all means please do!! This forum needs more sharing of all we do to see what works and what doest!!

When we put mine on the dyno i will post the cam specs and the charts to see what these trucks like. [emoji1]

So far i have an Airaid CAI, ported and polished heads port matched to 1 7/8" catless American Racing Headers, full 3" exhaust with a magnaflow 22" muffler, tuned on E85/91 by spikes performance in south texas.

Parts at home include set of 4.10s front and rear and a corvette LT1 intake setup with a 6.2L TB

Already have a turbo kit mocked up as well but want to see what i can do all motor first.

Goodness, you're gonna have a beast.

If I can find a money tree, I'll do Maggie 1900.

Turbos are fun....I will say that. Buddy had a turbo'd rcsb that ran 10s until a light pole got in the way...Sounds like you'll be over 500hp no problem!

Headers on a truck that you dont want to race and use for daily commuting and towing is pointless. All your gains from headers are up top 4k+ and you gain horsepower not torque. The exhaust manifolds are designed to produce low end torque for towing in truck applications, not high rpm horse power. Not to mention your truck will be loud as hell and annoy you towing on the interstate. If i had a 2wd sport truck and went to the track or the street i would run headers. A commuter and a tower? No way in hell, but to each his own. There is a video of a blue 6.2 all terrain on youtube with kooks and borla and its so loud the microphone gets distorted at idle. Check it out, sounds mean.

I completely disagree with your comment. I have tsp headers on my truck as well. I gained power all throughout the curve. Gains were much more pronounced in higher rpms, but still enough in lower range to justify the cost.

Anyone here that had done a muffler swap has even less of an argument. Heads actually provide some benefits...

I don't have before and after number on this truck...because it's a truck and I didn't see the need. Any LS platform though will see gains from longtube headers. In my CTS-V I gained nearly 35 rwhp all throughout the power band, with peak at almost 45.

If you tune for headers, especially in combination with other modifications, there are actual gains to be had. (Even for DDs...)

Was what headers alone allowed tuning to look like, though. This is a tuned pull with headers, but not adjusted for them...then tuning for the headers (we ended up making more power, this was just after one iteration...)

Allowed for more timing and a better ending AFR...

What did you dyno after the tune?

I'm putting my Texas Speed headers this evening and gonna take it to the dyno for a tune Sunday.

Cool, good luck with the install! Let me know how it goes, I'd be curious as to how close you end up to the Trans crossmember as well.
