I would love to, but no way I'm paying retail for it :)

I'll keep my eye on CL.

. Are you still having issues with the clearance of the Y pipe? Also do you still have check engine lights from running no cats or did you tune them out? Overall, are you happy you got them and did you find any performance gains besides sound?

You pipe occasionally touches the crossmember. I put a couple hours into it, I can't get any more clearance. I'm going to notch out a small piece. Should be an easy fix, and won't threaten the strength of the crossmember.

CEL is gone now that I had the tune updated to tune out the rear cat readings. The CEL from no cats.

With that said, I haven't had the tune adjusted yet for the headers for anything else. I have an appointment on June 15th with my tuner at the Dyno.

I'm happy overall, worth the price I paid.

I'll report back on performance once I get the tune updated.

Fixed the Y Pipe rubbing today, just cut out the corner of the transmission crossmember bracket.

Headers on a truck that you dont want to race and use for daily commuting and towing is pointless. All your gains from headers are up top 4k+ and you gain horsepower not torque. The exhaust manifolds are designed to produce low end torque for towing in truck applications, not high rpm horse power. Not to mention your truck will be loud as hell and annoy you towing on the interstate. If i had a 2wd sport truck and went to the track or the street i would run headers. A commuter and a tower? No way in hell, but to each his own. There is a video of a blue 6.2 all terrain on youtube with kooks and borla and its so loud the microphone gets distorted at idle. Check it out, sounds mean.

I don't know if I'd go as far as pointless, but I do see your points as the majority of the gains are above 4k.

However, gains are gains no matter the platform. Performance guys like gains. If there were losses of hp or tq anywhere, then yes, it'd be pointless. However, as you can see, this is not the case.

I can tell you that with the OEM cat back with the headers, it will not be loud.

Even with the OEM cat back and borla muffler (resonater still in place) with headers, my truck is not loud at all.

Yeah no losses anywhere so not pointless but has me rethinking if I'd do headers. Less gain than I expected.

I wish my comparison was apples to apples, but it's not.

Old numbers were also based on 3" exhaust with only a Flowmaster muffler.

New numbers are 2.75" exhaust with Borla muffler and stock resonater.

Also, both of these are e85 numbers on my truck that was already tuned. One last variable was the first dyno was done in cooler temps as well.

So, lots of factors. I'd fully expect someone to gain 20-25 on apples to apples comparison on back to back dynos.

While you will gain HP all the way through, In many cases you actually will lose torque between 1500-3000(normal towing rpm range) Not sure about the Ecotec series, i recall seeing testing done somewhere, engine masters or similar. Ill see if i can track down the episode. But as i said it probably wouldnt be enough of a loss to even notice 5-10lb ft maybe.

No torque loss on my charts.

As long as you tune for the headers, I think it's a win win.

Clearly no loss of tq on his chart. If anything he gained a few HP down low. This is what i have been telling people but some refuse to listen even with charts. Different engines respond differently to headers. Once you remove the stock manifolds and see how restricrive they reallllyyy are it all makes sence.

Hopefully i can get mine on a dyno soon. Tuner and i are aiming for 400 to the wheels all motor..... WITH 33s

What else have you done to the truck? Most 6.2's put down 320-340. Even bolt ons and custom tune will have a hard time getting to 400 no? Best of luck, let us know how it works out.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
