2016 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2L Constraint Question

Does anyone know of any constraints being placed on the 2016 Sierra 1500 SLTs with the 6.2L engine?

I ask because I special ordered a 2016 Sierra SLT 2wd 1500 Crew Cab Short Box w/Max Trailering Package on 6 Oct 2015 with a deposit. Since then I have been at Event Code 1100. When I question the dealer about this they tell me that my vehicle is on hold because of a locking rear differential. I have checked the Donlen website and do not see any recent updates citing this constraint. I have asked the dealer to show me where they are receiving this information from as I am not finding it anywhere. As of this Saturday I spoke to the dealer and they still tell me the same story but cannot produce anything telling me so. In the end of my conversation with them, I told them that if my order does not move from event code within 2 weeks I will be canceling this order with them and searching for a dealer that would love to take my money.

Thank you.

I placed my order for a double cab 6.2 back in September and am also still at 1100. Think we are going to be waiting a while bud.

most of the 6.2 2016 i searched for are coming under Denalis.

Infact maybe 1 out of every Denali is with 5.3 , most seem to be with 6.2 .

This might be a tactic to bring out the super expensive ones out first then start releasing the rest

Kind of like ford did with releasing mostly lariat and platinum models first

The dealer (and possibly the zone) also has to have allocation for the desired items.

If GM is building a limited number of 6.2 max tows per week, then GM have to have a system to fairly hand them out.

Thank you all for the replies. Such a frustrating system of "special ordering" something you want to make your own and not what GM or the dealers want you to have. Maybe I will have a self purchased Xmas gift by the time my special order is built and delivered; sure won't be holding my breath.

Even for the '15's, the 6.2L NHT's are in short supply. Had to import from another state to get one.

As others mention, the 6.2's seem to be going to the Denalis at higher margins. Perhaps most impactful, the 6.2's in general are more finite. Would be interested to see unit production/demand figures. Anyone have these?

My fear is that with CAFE mileage requirements, the bigger V8's are are a dying breed. If/when oil goes back to $100 per barrel, they should be collectors items that perhaps only us old guys lust after.

While I LOVE the 6.2, the 5.3 getting the 8-speed will be what kills the 6.2 as now the 5.3 will dig out of the hole and rip. That and the fact that it gets lower gears helps even more, going to be hard for someone to take a test drive and really tell the difference now.

Get a tuned 6.2, you only live once and its the Corvette motor!

If your in the dealers position, you 'stock order' trucks that will sell the best and/or dealer trade the best.

No, I don't want a car motor in my truck that is preposterous. That is why I passed on the Colorado because it has a car motor in it. Sigh, is the 5.3 a truck motor at least?

All are identical LS based motors, little if any difference.

I don't care what got the LS motor first (Corvette) it is a super strong, overbuilt, pushrod V8. Be glad!

GM motors in trucks aren't "car" motors. Stump pullers! My previous Tundra had a car motor, no useable torque.

If you want to feel better about your situation, I've been waiting since April for a duramax...

All duramax trucks are built with a month and a half. Can you share what exactly with your order is holding up the build? I checked and nothing is on constraint for a 2500 or 3500.
