Tire pressure low warning at 35psi

I had my tires filled with oil change the other day. They said they were put at 35 psi which is what the gm recommends. Now the truck is telling me all tires are low. I checked them and they are all at 35 psi. Is there some sort of reset I have to do? They were not rotated. It is a 2010 silverado. Temp outside is 40 degrees F.

What were your tires set at previously? Sounds like someone has the TPMS system set up for something other then P rated tires, which i assume you have.

I didn't check I bought the truck two days ago and all was well. They look the same as they did when I bought it

Truck was from Canada so maybe he had it set for colder weather

Are they P-rated tires? If they are that means someone has your TPMS set up for C, D, or E rated tires.

Not a big deal, any dealer or mechanic with a half decent scanner can reset the TPMS for the P-rated tires you currently have. We have an old snap-on scanner at work that is capable of doing it so there should be a wide range of other scanners that can as well.

Your truck is a 1500 right?

When it comes to the TPMS, there really isn't a specific tire rating that the sensors get set to as suggested above. They get set to a certain air pressure, it doesn't matter what the sidewall of the tires say. The load rating of the tires do not affect the TPMS at all. The sensors themselves do not care or know what kind of tires you are running, nor does it matter.

Take your truck back to the dealer you bought it from and have them reprogram the sensors, easy fix.

I run E rated LT's on my trucks without issue. The maximum pressure for my tires at maximum load is 80psi. and when I do actually run that high of pressure while towing heavy, the factory settings don't give me any warnings, they work as they are designed to work, tire load rating is irrelevant.

If you are getting a warning at 35psi, you may have a bad sensor that needs replaced. The dealer will be able to take care of that for you also.

You can have them reprogrammed to alert at a higher pressure than the OEM setting but it's really not necessary. I don't remember when the low pressure warning comes on, never had that happen but it should not be at 35psi because that's normal tire pressure.

Is it a half-ton Silverado, or an HD? Check the tire loading sticker in your door jam - that will tell you what the tires should be set to.

On my 3/4 ton Burb, the fronts are set to 50 PSI, and the rears are set to 71. IIRC, I get a warning when the fronts drop below 40 and the rears below 61.

I had the same thing happen to me. I stopped to put air in and the gauge read 36psi. Just for giggles I added a little jumping it to 37 and the low tire warning was still telling me the tire was low. Took it to the dealer and they replaced a faulty sensor. Glad it was still under warranty because while I was waiting, an advisor came out to talk to an elderly couple about their car. He advised them they needed a new battery and a new drivers door window switch that would be $280, not including the battery. Without hesitation they agreed. Hate to think what they'd charge me to replace a tire pressure sensor.
