Woke up to missing wheels and tires

My 2014 All Terrain is sitting on some landscape stones right now. Some enterprising individuals grabbed my wheels and tires sometime between midnight and 5:00 am. They had a whopping 6,000 miles on them. No other damage to the truck that I can see. Insurance has a company that sources replacement wheels and tires. I am hoping to be able to get something different than the SRA tires that came on the truck.

I've gone through a few threads already, but am looking fora few more opinions. I want something that actually looks a bit fitting for an All Terrain, but still has good road manners. The most off roading I currently do is towing our trailer to a campground, so grass and stone driveways. I don't want my mileage to take a hit.I also don't have a lift or level kit, so they need to be stock size.

Any suggestions out there that are priced within a reasonable range of the Goodyear SRAs?

Sorry to hear about your situation. Seems all too common.

I don't have any suggestions on replacement other than to point you to the For Sale forum where a member is selling a set of AT tires and wheels.

So the OP doesn't off road, doesn't want an MPG hit and wants a reasonable priced tire. So you guys suggest the most expensive, heaviest and least road mannered tire? Haha. The fan boy replies on the KO2 tires are insane.

OP, something like the Hankook Dynapro ATM would be more down your isle. They will have good road manners, more aggressive look and won't hit your MPG much at all being a lighter tire. Not to mention the price on them are good.

The KO2's are just a new tire so everyone wants them because of how they look, yet most options are only in the D and E load ranges which will hit the mpg. They are by far the most expensive tire (you pay for the name) and road manners are middle to lower in terms of noise and performance. They have a history of hydroplanning (the original KO) and that was because of the C-shaped tread which is very similar to the new ones, I don't see a huge improvement in water evacuation compared to the last gen (just look at the path water has to take). There are many other tires that are much more reasonable in price, mpg and better performing to fit your needs. Though the BFG's do have a history or longevity it is usually at the expense of wet and cold road traction (though off road traction is above par).

If you really like that aggressive of a look check out the General Grabber AT2. They are well liked and rated. With a similar yet more open tread for better water evacuation and less hydroplaning, by far cheaper and well made in more sizes and load ranges.

Also check in the BFG rugged terrain (they are sweet looking, my buddy likes his). Yokohama Geolander at-s or goodyear wrangler all terrain adventurer with kevlar. The goodyear's were highly rated for a while on tire rack and come stock on the Tacoma Off Road and Z71 Colorado and Canyon All terrain. All those will look better, be cheaper and won't kill your mpg if you stay p-rated.

Good luck and sorry about your luck. Did you have wheel locks?

I appreciate the fast and varied responses so far. And to answer the question, yes I had the factory wheel locks on them. They left behind most of the lugs and the locks. The locks were not damaged at all, so they must have had a key set with them. Another truck in a different section (GMC SLE) was hit as well from what I have been told.

The tire and wheel company is going to try and help me out with tire selection. I just wanted to get some opinions so I can look a few over to suggest to them. With luck, I might have the new wheels and tires late today or tomorrow. Once the kids are awake and fed, I'll have time to get out there with them and get the truck up on proper jack stands and inspect for further damage. I'll be taking a lot of pictures first for documentation. The rear discs are sitting on the rocks themselves right now.

I have Cooper Discoverer ATP's on my 18" rims, 275/65/18's No real MPG hit compared to the SRA's and they seem to handle well. I want to say they were about $775 OTD but, I got an extra $200 off on top of that for trading in my SRA's. Got 'em at discount tire. I was really digging the Firestone Destination AT's and the General Grabber AT2's but, discount tire had an extra $75 rebate on these coopers, they were rated positively online and the tread pattern looks cool. I rarely take my truck off the pavement so an AT tire is probably almost silly but, I like to be prepared for whatever might come my way including snow. I probably would have the Firestones on my truck but, since Discount tire gives a credit for trading in used tires and they don't carry firestone I got the coopers.

EDIT: I wish someone had stolen my SRA's! I like my rims alright but, those SRA's suck!

I've heard a lot of good things about the Hankook Dynapro ATM's and the Cooper Discoverer AT3's and ATP's. I'm going to replace my SRA's with one of these when it's time.

Up in Kingwood/Porter. Usually pretty good around our neighborhood. I just think they knew what they were doing.
