Not a dumb question, but vague as there are two bed lengths for 2014+up 1500 crew cab.

By checking other posts you have, I found the only picture I saw posted of your truck: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/154469-post-pics-of-your-2014/?p=1725235

Judging on the position of the gas door (its on the "fender" of the box and not on the flat section), it appears that you have the 5ft 8in box.

thanks for the response, is the 5ft 8' the most common?

It's the most common on the 1500 crew cab trucks. The double, and regular cabs are usually a 6.5 ft bed.

Not any more on these new ones. Its close to a 50/50 spilt near me. We move more 6ft 6in crews than we do 5ft 8in. 5ft. 8in. was the only size from 2005-2013 on 1500 crew.

What 15HD said.

If your fuel filler door is parallel to the side of the truck because it is not on the fender you have a 6' 6" bed.

If the filler door is at an angle because it is on the wheel fender then you have a 5' 8" bed.

Interesting, good to know that the fuel door is a dead give away. I never thought of that, just used to judge by the space between the wheel and the cab.

Sure glad they brought back the "longer" bed...

Yep it's the main reason why I upgraded my truck. I owned a 2011 EXT cab Reg box. Felt so bad putting people in the back seat haha but didn't want to sacrifice box space. Now with these new trucks the Crew cabs are HUGE and the normal sized box is really nice. I think it gives the truck a better overall look.

If it was for a Crew Sierra, the fuel filler door is flat on standard bed and bent on short bed.

I really found the 5' 8" bed to be a great size for me. It's long and wide enough for me to fit 6 boats stacked on their sides, and I can also sleep in the bed diagonally with the tailgate up. I looked at one of the long bed Crew Cabs but for some of the places I need to get to, it looked like I might have trouble negotiating some turns.

Yeah, I get nervous going through some of the fast food drive thru's I visit.

Gonna have to start walking in, dang it! :D

I have to admit, for all but about 5% of the situations I use my truck for, I wish I had the longer bed. Very handy.
