I agree with the statement above regarding stainless. Have you checked out the Dynomax 39530? It's stainless, dual out, and a straight through design like Magnaflow for around $500. It comes with a 14" muffler though so might be a bit louder than your looking for. Looks like Jegs.com as a $75 rebate currently that you could use towards a Magnaflow muffler and just shorten the intermediate pipe a bit if you wanted to.

The entire system is stainless or is it just the tips? I've never had Dynomax so I will check it out and see how it sounds. I can get the Magnaflow for 700$ and it's entirely stainless steel so maybe that's just the route to go. I agree with you guys. I plan on keeping this truck at least the next 10 years so I want something that will last. Plus the magnflow exhaust should install easily because it comes with everything I need.

It is all stainless. I bought Dynomax pipes with a Magnaflow muffler for mine but I opted for the single side exit. The Magnaflow kit is a couple hundred more but if it's what you want go for it. I love the sound of the 18" Magnaflow on mine.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the 18" magnaflow dual exhaust 15268. I got it for just under 700 so I really can't beat that. Looking forward to getting it on!

So, is there no way to put a nice somewhat louder aftermarket muffler/cat back system that doesn't sound weird in V4 mode? I just bought the truck Saturday, so I am not sure I am ready to do away with the AFM just yet.

My exhaust comes in tomorrow and I bought the hypertech tuner and set the V4 to 70mph. It is so nice to only have it come on when I'm cruising on the freeway. I would highly recommend setting it higher. I agree it is a nice feature and I'm not ready to do away with it either. I just want it when I'm cruising at 70+. Once I get my exhaust on I will re-evaluate...

Where did you get the system from? I'm looking to get the black set.

I got it from hottexhaust. They should send or email you a coupon code that takes off like 2-300. Chat with a rep and you might get even more off. Hottexhaust was linked directly from the magnaflow main website. I checked autoanything and they had a higher price. I paid under 700

Not unless you get the GM Borla system with the adaptive valve but that is $$$$. The V4 sound drove me nuts on mine so I bought a Range AFM Disabler a couple days later. I didn't realize you could set a speed with the tuners but the V4 drone on the highway was maddening after a while so that would not have worked for me.

I had no idea that a tuner can do that... I thought it was just on or off. Anyone know if a diablo can do this also? I have a 16 and hypertech doesn't list a 16 as supported yet

Ya I constantly hear about people turning it off. I always wonder why everyone does that and doesn't just set it higher. It's a very nice benefit if you're cruising on the freeway for long distances or trips. Then again I haven't put my exhaust on yet so maybe it will drive me insane and I'll turn it off too. I looked into the diablo but they can't ship to CA. Not emission friendly or something like that. Not sure if they have that feature but I would assume they do. Maybe check there online chat if nobody responds...

it is a valve behind the muffler that adjusts depending on the airflow to help keep the exhaust quiet and eliminate drone and any unpleasant sounds the exhaust makes when it goes into V4 mode, that unpleasant sound is commonly referred to as chopper

      I have an Autel, works great for what it is. Can't do some specific things because you need say the GM tool, VCDS for Audi/Volkswagon and others of course. But those times are few and far between for me.   The other tool I'd like to try one day is the new Topdon scan tools. Seen several video's on them and many youtube people review them.    I've never subscribed for updates or payed to do that stuff on my Autel, so I'm sure I'm missing out on some of the updates but I'm fine with that for now.

      I am in the market for a bidirectional scan tool so was hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. There are so many options out there it is hard to narrow down which make/model to choose.   I have always done my own vehicle work so looking to maximize capability with the scanner. Ideal price is $1k or less but would be willing to exceed if it opens up significant benefits.  Currently my 24 2500 is the newest vehicle but also have a few mid to late 2010s Subarus as well.    It seems that the Autel MP900 has a decent amount of features at a reasonable price?

      There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.
