Very Helpful topic and lots of great pics and input. This really helped me to pin point what set up to order, thanks!:D 19 Denali 2500HD Duramax, 2" level, 20x9 +20mm, 285/65/20 Goodyear ultraterrains from Discount tire and factory mud flaps.:smash:

I’d love to see pics of that setup; I want to do 1”-1.5” at both ends and 275/65R20’s on mine. UltraTerrains, Grabber ATX’s, or KO2’s are my three choices.

Its getting installed next week, they had to order everything. I had the KO2's previously, but didn't like because they picked up EVERY rock and they took a lot of weight to balance. I also ran the Goodyear duratracs and liked except they are a little noises, so i figured i would try this new Ultraterrain. I will post pics when its done next week.

Thanks! I think they ride better due to having more sidewall; I only noticed a slight increase in noise and humming when I have the windows down at higher speed, but with the windows up I haven't heard any new noise. They're nice tires.

looks great, amazing how much tire you can fit if you keep the stock wheels.

 

Update on my truck; 19 Denali 2500HD, put 2" leveling kit on and brought it up 1 7/8" (drivers side maxed out). Front measurement is 42 1/8" and rear is 43 3/4". I am happy with how it sits, the upper control arms are not touching metal stops and I didn't use shock extensions either.  Also the ride is exactly the same and my steering wheel hasnt moved, so not sure if i need an alignment. I ordered MHT Sledge's 20x9 +20mm and hoped to fit LT285/65/20 Goodyear ultraterrains from Discount Tire. Today they did a test fit and it barely touched the inside of front fender liner and rubbed the factory mudguards, I have the factory flat/flexible guards. I probably could of done some trimming to make it work, but I am gonna try the 275/65/20's in the same tire. That 285 was taller than a 35 when side by side, weird.... I saw 2 more trucks like mine this weekend, both T bars cranked and UCA sitting on metal stops and one had 305/55/20 and other was 35-12.50.20 with trimming. I just dont want to mess with the ride quality and have it sitting on metal stops.

1 7/8" lift in front and flat OEM splash guards, 20x9 +20MM wheels, 275/65/20 Goodyear Ultraterrains. Had to slightly modify front splash guards becauase barely rubbed at full lock.

How’ve you liked the UltraTerrains thus far?

Yes I have, a little low speed growl, but nothing excessive. Very similar to the Goodyear  Duratracs. I like the aggressive look of the tire and I get a lot of compliments on them.

Hi everyone. I’ve been following this post since I bought my truck. I just purchased a brand new 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 4x4 Denali. It had 6mi on it when I decided it needed new shoes. After reading through this post I decided to go with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/75/r18. I got them from Discount tire for $299 a pop. I left there and immediately went to Goodyear where I had them turn the torsion bar up 4cranks and an alignment. Brought it up one inch in the front. All in all I have no rub forward, back, full turn it’s all good. I am very happy with the look and went from 3in of rake to 2in of rake and a taller feel. Trying to figure out how to post the before and afters.

Trying to find out if I can fit the stock wheels and tires from a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500hd on my 2016 GMC Sierra 2500hd with stock suspension. I know the bolt pattern is the same and based on what I have seen on the forums the 275/60R20 tire will fit with stock 2016 wheels without rubbing but I'm concerned the slight difference in offset from 44mm on the 2016 wheels to the 47mm on the 2020 wheels will be an issue. Has anyone tried this yet?

Pulled the trigger and answered my own question. The different back spacing doesn't affect the clearance and the 275/60R20 tires fit great with no rubbing. Looks way better too! Keep in mind the 2020 Tpms sensors are not comparable with 2016 trucks.

Just got these put on this morning, I didn't put the center caps on yet because I wasn't sure how the fronts would fit. The drivers side doesn't rub, but for some reason the passenger side rubs the wheel well a few areas on the turning radius. I am going to look at adjusting the keys a little and tweak the wheel liners a bit in the front. 

 

Edit: I turned the keys up 4 turns, not sure how much it actually did because I pulled back the front of the wheel liners at the same time. 

 

Wheels: Anthem Off-Road Defender 20x9 +18mm

Tires: Wrangler DuraTrac 285/60R20

 

No suspension changes at all shown below.

    • This is interesting. My quote tagged here is different from my original quote. After I’m driving them longer. That isn’t me. I don’t talk that way. I definitely wouldn’t express myself that way. Interesting.
    • I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps. 
    • Monthly payment is only part of the equation. With today's prices and interest rates, I'd look at the total monthly cost: payment, insurance, registration, fuel, maintenance, and expected repairs. A vehicle that fits comfortably into your budget is usually the better choice than stretching for a higher trim. I've also kept my vehicles longer over the past few years. New cars have gotten expensive enough that driving one for 10+ years, while staying on top of maintenance, often ends up being the most cost-effective approach.
    • 10 Ford and Chevy engines proven to reach 300,000 miles   You may note a common 3K OCI on this list of gas motors. I skipped over the diesels. Dh'O. 
    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
