Noticed something on the 2016 trucks

If you have the memory seat option it operates a little differently than the previous way GM had them setup. You still set everything up and then press the "Set" button and then hold down either the 1 or the 2 button. When you go to use that slot you now have to hold down the button to get that slot to recall and hold it until everything is fully into position.

You can also change slots while driving now, on prior years you had to be stopped and in park or neutral in order to use the memory button.

All the k2 trucks are like that bc my 14 is the same way, have to hold it until everything is set. It's nice while driving because I don't know my mirrors are off from someone driving before me until I'm already driving down the road

If you just start the truck in park, tapping the 1 or 2 key will move the seat to the set position without holding as far as I know. only during drive you have to hold it to get it into place.

I will have to try this...

Mine all I have to do is start it with my driver #1 key and it automatically recalls my memory settings and a message something about driver number 1.

Tapping is how my 2014 worked, the 2016 doesn't work like that. Seems GM has changed how the recall works in the 2016 trucks. my drivers side mirror was moved and I was trying the tapping method to get everything back into place, at first I thought the memory controller wasn't working. Wasn't until I tried it the way our Audi works by holding it down and it changed. My 2014 would not change while driving at all via the memory button, only if stopped in park or neutral.

Whoah, didn't know it did that! How do you set that, or should I just RTFM...?

It's really simple. I think you just lock/unlock the door using the fob. Crank the truck, and then program the seat.

You have to have this set in the vehicle settings I think. It's not the default setting.

I think it's called auto recall

Automatically Recalling Memory Positions (Auto Recall) If programmed on in the vehicle personalization menu, the Auto (Automatic) Memory Recall feature automatically recalls the current driver’s previously stored 1 or 2 position when the ignition is changed from OFF to ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY. See “Auto Memory Recall” under “Comfort and Convenience” in Vehicle Personalization 0 165. To stop recall movement, press one of the memory, power mirror or power seat controls; or press the adjustable pedal control (if equipped). RKE Transmitters are not labeled with a number. If your memory seat position is stored to 1 or 2 but this position is not automatically recalling, then store your positions to the other button or switch RKE

Auto Memory Recall This feature automatically recalls the current driver’s previously stored 1 or 2 button positions when entering the vehicle. See Memory Seats 0 62. Select On or Off.

I have yet to see a message about driver #1 or #2. I also am not sure yet what I am doing differently or if it is something else. But, I remember when I first got the truck and had it all dialed in. pressing the button (without holding) for the #1 position set everything back into place. Now, I have to hold it to complete the change as others have mentioned.

My 2014 never did this either but I noticed it with my 2016, I will get a screen shot when I get off of work.

This is on my 2016.

The DIC only gives the driver number message if the fob used is not the same one as was last used. The seat goes to the position associated with the fob when the key is inserted.

On mine, I set the exit position to be the same as position (#1) as the so seat only moves on key insertion if the other fob is used (since position #2 is different).

To move the seat to a button position, the button must be held until the move is complete. There is a slight delay before it starts to move.

The seat moves to the exit position when the key is out and the door is opened (unless the seat is on position 1, which I keep set the same as the exit position).

Correct, for a while I was getting that message and now no longer see it until driver 2 uses the truck. Here is a pic finally.
