2017 Ordering Specs are Live

I asked dealer about push button when I was purchasing. I was told because they use the same electronics for basic work trucks/vans and companies don't want push start.

I have no idea if that is true or not, and I have adjusted just fine with turning a key, but I do get confused when I get into my wife's car!

I was told this exact same thing by my dealer when I ordered my 16 SLT AT

I have resigned myself that I'll have to get used to digging keys and fob out of my pocket. I am going to wait on a 2017 at this point. My latest dilemma is I found out GM won't put tow mirrors on a Denali from the factory. Now I know why I've never seen them on trucks on the dealer lots. This is really dumb. I can get tow package and a trailer brake controller but I can't get tow mirrors. Dealer installed only. Of course they cost 3 times more expensive and I have the potential of a damaged trim panel or two, possible paint and/or wiring damage. I know that is a worse case scenario but still it just makes the purchase experience as a first time GM truck buyer a bit sour (now I basically need to deal with 3 departments to buy the truck). I'll see how it goes in a month or so but I will have a short fuse. I've got a sales guy in the fleet department at a Ford dealer that'll spec out a new F150 Limited or Platinum over the phone, call me when it gets in (no deposit needed), I'll bring in my Ram, the title and write a check for the difference. He always treats me fair with the sales price and trade value. I let him make a "couple bucks", I get a fair discount and away I go. So much for my whining.....

The 1500s are behind the times when it comes to tech features. 2017 lineup seems to be GM's approach of putting just a bit more lipstick on the pig.

100%agreed. Gm for the most part follows , never leads. Always playing catch up

I’m not sure that I agree that GM runs behind. It depends on the features. GM was first with telematics (On-Star) and air bag deployment alerts, now many have followed. GM was the first to announce WI-FI hot spots, first with Android Auto and Car Play across most models, has been a leader in cylinder deactivation, was an early leader in anti-lock brakes, had a GMC with four-wheel steering for a while, and I’m sure many more that others can mention. Does Ford innovate in tech? Absolutely! Does RAM innovate in tech? Absolutely! But to say that one brand or the other is years behind I don’t is fair, there are some things one brand does that the others follow and vice versa. Its good there is competition.

I didn't have any negative experience getting my gooseneck installed, or fuel door, or tailgate handle, so on and so forth. There's a lot of over reaction on the interwebs.

I'll agree with you on the price though. There was a slim chance mine wasn't getting built with dqs mirrors and I wasn't happy with shelling out the extra $

I have met alot of guys like you in the sales business. What is a "couple bucks"..... how "short" is your fuse?

Why dont you just order what you want? You aren't a first time GM buyer - you are a PROSPECTIVE BUYER - very different - I would stick with ford and overpay - and you will overpay.

2016 sure seemed like a short model year.

Thats what I was thinking!

Late arrival due to the mid life product cycle refresh.

Yup. I remember trying to order a truck in December and I was still only able to choose a 2015. Those 2015's are still stacked up at the local dealers, I bet they are going to have some real blowout sales before the '17s arrive.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
