Unhappy With Chevy Service

I took my truck to my local Chevy for a Couple of issues I was having. My truck has stalled out on me once at a stop light and almost stalled out 3 other times (RPM's Dropped and I felt it stumble but then it picked back up) Chevy of course cannot duplicate and says its my intake elbow and Catch can that is causing issue. If I install by factory parts again the might be able to diagnose the issue. I feel like GM finds anyway out of helping their customers. I work for a large company that has a fleet of GM Pick ups and Cargo vans and I see this all the time with them. We also have a large fleet of ford and they have the best customer service and taking care of the customer I have ever seen. Thats my rant.

Take off the stuff and see if you can duplicate it. If you can, take it in. Dealer is covering their ass by noting you have aftermarket products installed, whether they are causing it or not. Simple as that. Otherwise, plan on being unhappy with every dealer you take it to. It's the first thing(s) they have techs work at when there is an issue under warranty. Aftermarket modifications (intake, suspension, tuning, etc.).

I would go back in and request to speak with the service manager. GM now offers a CAI kit with the same style smooth intake tube and GM also uses oil separator units on some other model vehicles. Either the tech was being lazy or the service writer was, either way neither of those items should cause an issue unless they are not installed correctly causing a vacuum leak.

Is your catch can hooked up correctly?

Also, what kind of gas are you using? I know they say these trucks are fine to run in 87, but a lot of members have better results running 89. The direct injection on these trucks will thank you.

Interesting. Ford has been the worst to deal with around here. Must be a regional thing. The Ford rep that authorizes warranty work is very good at bs'ing his way out of authorizing warranty work.

When the technician is asking you to take off the aftermarket wheels, you might be right.

I have no idea whether a tech actually spent much time on your truck but if there were no codes, could not duplicate and saw no bulletins, about the only thing left is a cal to TAC. Guess what, one of the first questions asked is "any modifications?". If the answer is yes, then they will say to have the customer remove the mod's. Assuming they are or could be related to the issue.

Mods are fun to do and I have done them to every truck and motorcycle I have ever owned but I also know full well that if it is under warranty then I may not get something major fixed because of such mods. You have to pay to play and if you don't like your local dealership giving you crap about it then either don't do the mod, do the mod and live with it, or wait till your powertrain warranty is up. People can argue about what the law says or that GM makes a similar part but in the end it is GM's word against yours and you are the one who has to prove a certain mod did not cause a problem.

Did you check the electrical connector for the MAF sensor? While you're at it, make sure that all 8 spark plug wires are properly connected and are in good shape.
