An H rated tire is good to 130mph which is a continuous speed rating...not if you reach that speed it will fvcking blow up! I reached 140mph and let out. Don't sweat it guys... GEEZ!

It's hard explaining the want or need/reason to take a Truck over the set limiters on this forum. Then they bring up the public safety argument and "your truck can't stop or handle at those speeds accordingly blah blah blah". To me it just sounds like a bunch of no-driving mfer's. IDK about yall, but I have no issues stopping or handling/maneuvering my truck at triple digits. Understand your driving capabilities with that of your limits of your vehicle and I don't see the issue.

In Texas when you have a tollway thats minimum speed is 85mph and you only have 14mph of leeway of passing people before hitting the limiter, that just seems unsafe and a cop out from the manufacturer.

Most of us couldn't care less if you go 200mph with your truck. And I can't care even more less if you hit a lamp post at that speed.

But you are not alone on the road.

And I've seen lots of guys with this "I have no issues stopping or handling/maneuvering my truck at triple digits" aditude, in the ditch.

What is the speed limit in Texas on a tollway with a minimum speed of 85mph?

You still have a lot to learn if you can't pass another car on a three lane highway w/o getting hurt.

I have my 1200rw fun car when I feel like doing 200mph. I also, have seen those people who have had that kind of attitude roll their shit into a ditch. There's a time and place and only dipshits weave in and out of traffic. You act as if going 100mph is some ungodly ridiculous speed and make it out to seem super dangerous when in reality that's a cruising speed for me when on tollroad HWY130 going from Austin to San Antonio (2 lane tollroad 85mph). If you see a pack of cars, obviously compensate speed to the situation; but realistically cruising at 100ish isn't going to cause some massive accident at 11pm at night in the left lane as you make it out to be. Can a blow out happen? Sure, has it happened to me at 130mph? Yes. Did I wreck or hit anyone at the event? Nope.

I'm not sure you understand though. Not everybody is going the speed you are. You could easily get into a major wreck if someone changes lanes in front of you because they don't realize you're doing 100. Even late a night with less to 0 traffic. It would be a lot less of a chance, but can still happen. It only takes one time. It may kill you, it may kill someone you hit which you'd go to prison for vehicular man slaughter, or you could become a paraplegic or quadriplegic. I basically go 5 over everywhere, but that's nothing compared to going 15+ over. You have to think about the other people on the road, not just yourself. I trust myself with my driving ability, but not everybody is a good driver rather it's 0 driving ability or if they're the type that wants to do 5 things at once while driving. I think the same when driving in winter weather. Even though I trust myself, not everybody is good in snow so I have to watch out for those people. about 10 years ago I wouldn't be saying this stuff because I was young and thought nothing could happen to me. But after getting my CDL A and having a license for 15 years I actually have common sense now when driving and don't think I need to show off.

I've done 160mph legally on a road w/o speed limit. So 100mph is a piece of cake.

But the car was designed for this kind of speed. So were the tires. And the brakes. And the suspension.

And 99% of the drivers on this road understand the concept of a travel lane and a passing lane. Otherwise it wouldn't work.

Still, there were cars pulling out behind a semi with just half of my speed.

I've heard it many times that speed is not dangerous, it's the difference of speed between two objects what makes it dangerous. EXACTLY!

Just for the sake of it. I think that race car drivers are very capable. But they still wear helmets and heat resistant suits.

Roll cages, huge brakes, emergency shut off and more.

There are many safety measures along a race track. Barricades, piles with tires, ambulances and fire engines. Why is all that? Because there is always the unknown. The split second of not paying attention. A driver making a mistake. You name it. Granted, they're driving at the very limits.

Now ask a race car driver what he thinks about high speed on public roads.

My 2016 5.3 V8 CC limits out at 112. No mods, all stock. My 2014 5.3v8 dc cut out at 99.

I'd rather quick than fast any day of the week. I'd prefer it if my truck maxed out at 100mph but, when you are wot, it takes all you got to pull your back off the seat

Ya I'd prefer acceleration over top speed since I don't think I'll be racing. That's part of the reason I want to regear and get rid of these damn 3.08s.

My 98 did 160k, my 10 did 160, and my 15 does 160. 100 mph for you southern folk. As for the people saying that is crazy, i would rather do that speed in todays trucks before i would in some of todays commuter cars. 100mph is nothing for a late model truck, ya your braking distance will be 2.5 times worse than a Camaro but if you hit a deer at 100mph you have a shot at living. at 140mph you might want to start thinking good tires, roll cage and bigger brakes.

I hit about 100 mph passing some vehicles out west down a road with no speed limits. It accelerated from 75-100(ish) with ease but that was all i needed and backed off. The truck had a lot left and surely would have kept going if allowed to. Not sure if and/or where it was actually governed, but i glanced down and it was about at 100 when i let off the gas. I love that these trucks have power that just keeps on giving. Coming from econoboxes that are fat slobs accelerating after 70 it is a welcome change.

I have been beyond 100 mph and once it shifts that pull really falls on its face. At the track I force it to hold 4th on my 8 speed because 5th is just kind of blah.

You realize in an accident you probably have about the same chance of death at 80mph as 120. Needless to say I like that dodge doesn't govern their trucks at least 3/4 ton diesels. The Dodge sitting on 37's will do 137. I found that out on the dyno because on the street the speedometer stops a 120. I would have to agree there is a lot of idiots on the roads and I feel that number grows every day. To me though it seems you probably have as much if a chance having some idiot try to drive through you at traffic speed as much as something going wrong at speeds in excess of 100. I've been hit by a drunk driver that was travelling in excess of 120mph head on a small 2 Lane highway and he found out a coupe or him couldn't survive a wreck at that speed.

My 16 6.2 cc hits 150k in around 10 seconds then shuts down just as it's starting to really open up, really sucks, but I love how fast it gets there

Above 150 km/hr it's not that impressive.... trust me. Shifting into 5th really kills it. Have to clarify that KM's thing to for the American guys because 150 mph..... well.... lol

    • This is NOT impact damage nor neglect. There were previous class action lawsuits because of such paint preparation st GM manufacturing plant. Not just the Cherry Red Color. This paint is applied in three processes to obtain the desired color.  The manufacturer will cover for 36 months or 36k miles only. That rust is actually corrosion because of the paint process failure. Corrosion is covered for 100,100 miles or a certain months. However their corrosion doesn't include this type. Go figure. Clearly manufacturer knew from previous paint issues. This started 3 weeks ago out of the blue.
    • Is it time to put a piece of tape over the CEL?
    • consider doing electrical testing?  I would guess some power or ground wire/connection has a problem.   alldata.com has wiring diagrams, connector pinouts and diagnostic procedures you can use to find where the problem is.
    • can you tell if the reader is actually trying to get codes, and the pcm is reporting none, or is your reader just silently failing because it's not communicating with the pcm?
    • Any joy with this truck seems to be short-lived.   The CEL for P0172 ("bank 1" too rich) is now "intermittent".   I'm not sure where to check, or re-check, and my energy to keep chasing problems with junk is wearing thin. The P0172 seems to set as I'm coming to a stop, completely off the throttle, when fully warm. At least, that's what it's done the 3? times it's set.   Everything appears normal on the scanner EXCEPT long term fuel trim. There's only one bank on this vehicle because it's an OBD 1.5 with only one upstream O2 sensor. At idle, it's around -16.4% and will dip to -18% occasionally at idle or off-throttle. LTFT approaches 0 when throttle is held at 2500rpm. Short term appears normal, much closer to zero all the time. The LTFT tells me the engine is running rich at idle but compensating at higher load. But, why?   The EVAP purge valve doesn't appear to be leaking/sucking fuel vapor continuously. Is it sticking just as I come to a stop and the engine is choking on fuel vapor and sets the P0172? But that doesn't explain the persistently negative LTFT. Disconnecting the purge valve doesn't seem to make any difference.   I suppose that leaves another dang issue with the fuel injector. A leaking fuel pressure regulator, a new leak in the spider, or a leaking fuel injector/poppet valve I didn't see, or a small crack in one of the spider legs.   The vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator doesn't have raw fuel in it. It doesn't even smell like fuel when it's pulled off, not until you suck air through it, then you can tell it leads to a fuel component. I'd consider that normal? Nothing is signaling this is a FPR issue from the outside, at least.   The oil smells like fuel but it's not building volume. I've noticed most oil in most engines smells like fuel to some degree so it's hard to say if the smell is an issue or not. Or if the engine just still smells like fuel because the crankcase was full of it a few hundred miles ago. But it's been changed twice since that original issue of the leaking fuel line dumping fuel into the intake.   Patience is running very thin. Every win seems to be accompanied by two steps backwards, or another issue that leads to removing at least the top half of the intake manifold. Enough! LOL
