Dealership service question

Question for anyone who may know the answer:

You take your truck in under warranty and driving the truck is required. If you bring the truck in with not much gas in it are you required to pay for gas if they need to drive the vehicle?

I got a call from the service advisor letting me know they need to put gas in it and it'd be $20.

Am I crazy in thinking that they should pay for EVERYTHING because it's their fault the truck is messed up. All under initial warranty here.

I got mine back with no gas after leaving it with gas.....trying to sort of my "vibration" issues...I would not leave it empty for them though LOL

No gas. No test drive. No driveability repairs.Your call.

It's not empty or I wouldn't be posting, that would be dumb.

There was around 75 miles left in the tank which is why I posted. Just thought it odd that they called and told me that. I checked my Onstar and they only drove it about 8 miles so it's a non issue now.

How is it the dealers fault or even GM fault for the part failing, did the dealer or GM personally go out and sabotage the truck in order to force you to have to bring it into them for repairs???

Step up into the real world and be realistic with how a new car warranty works. If you leave the vehicle with no gas and they need gas for a drivability test to be done then yes the dealer will charge you for it at a way higher rate than if you just put gas in it yourself. 75 miles is not much, you have to decide do you want them to drive the truck and get it fixed on the first attempt or for you to have to bring it in several times?

The only time the dealer ran a bunch of my gas out was during a calibration update, they had the truck run the entire time for 2 hours and ran out 1/8 of a tank. I spoke to the service advisor about it, he apologized and said they should have put the battery tender on the truck during the update and offered a free oil change to make up for it.

Hell they drained 2/3 of my tank and didn't think twice of it. Tell them to figure it out with their fancy computers and "highly skilled engineers" but they all have gas cards good for free gas, they are trying to add onto your tab. But I agree don't bring it to them empty
