I want to put new pads and shoes on my truck.

Anything different on these trucks?

It seems to me....this is just my opinion....but I seem to get more life out of the stock brake pads. I know they are a lot more expensive, but they seem to last longer than aftermarket ones and they don't generate those hot spots on the rotors. Maybe the aftermarket pads have more metal or something, I'm not sure.

I haven't changed brakes on my 09 yet....66,500 miles on it and they are about 1/2 way worn now, but maybe someday.

If you buy a good set of aftermarket pads and rotors, they will outlast the OEM junkers by far. I have been running Hawk/EBC on my 08 and Power Stop rotors and pads on my 2010 Silverado and they are much improved over OEM. It's also nice to have extra stopping power with good aftermarket rotors and pads.

I recently bought pads and rotors for my 2004 Sierra z71. Everything went fine with rear replacement parts, but the front pads that I received from Autozone were too big for the calipers. The part number is MKD784 and they're about 1 1/2" too big for the calipers. Is it possible I have aftermarket calipers?

Thanks in advance!

I'm replacing the rotors and pads on my 2003 Suburban this weekend, but I can say that I've got 90k miles on my original 'junker' OEM pads. The vehicle is 13 years old and getting its first set of replacement brakes.

There are arguments both ways. Honestly I think it varies. Everyone drives differently. Now one that can be said is fading. All people have to brake hard at some point.

I've heard a lot of good things about hawk pads.
