Good deal?

Looking at picking up a used 2016 Sierra SLT Crew Cab Z71 with the 6.2L. Looks to have pretty much all the options other than a sunroof and less than 3000 miles on the truck. The dealer is asking $45,997 right now and with trading in my 2014 Chevy my payments would be out the same.

Yall think this is a good deal or do you think they should go lower?

I haven't seen a new 6.2 for less than 50k. Sounds good to me. I would jump on it.

Doesn't sound to me like a bad price overall.

Did you price out what similarly equipped new ones would be? there are some dealers that post their lowest price out the door to start with or will give it to you via email. Not all dealers haggle in that respect and some give you their lowest price to start with just have to find one that does that and compare.

looking around sticker has been about 55K for a new one before any incentives

Not sure what region of the US you are in, but that' a good deal unless gm is still honoring the 15% off msrp incentive, which brings a 55k sticker down to about 47k, in which case I think there is more room there.

Just my thought.

You might be able to get them down a little more. I got my 2015 denali 4x4 with the 6.2l for just under 49k stickered at almost 60k. On a lightly used one I would think you might be able to get them down another 1000 or 2000 depending on where you are located and the availability of the 6.2l. Not sure what they were originally asking for it but I am sure there is anywhere from 3000 to 6000 mark up over what they gave for trade based on my experience.

I can't help but ask the question... What was the explanation they gave you for why they have a used 2016 Sierra with only 3,000 miles. Was it titled to someone, a demo, etc.. Can someone look up if it came in for warranty work in that 3,000 miles.. I would not want to find out it has been slightly wrecked or some other issue.

Agree with the guys above if you find that the price with all the rebates gets you close to the offered price I would note that to them and see how much lower it can go. My 2 cents.

Just got about 10k off MSRP on a new 2016 Denali MSRP was $59,895.00 has 6.2 and all the goodies. They gave me tradein book for my 2014 SLT with 61k miles. I could probably have haggled for a few days and done a bit better. I guess that I do not enjoy haggling like a lot of people do...........anyway the deals seem to be there to be had right now, not sure next month what they will do. Last time I was in a few months back to check deals they were standing firm on what I wanted at just below MSRP because the 6.2 engine was hard to find. Seems to change all the time and different per dealer also.

If they are selling it as used, likely it was already titled and traded back to the dealer. So, the former owner was already screwed out of the loss in value over the depreciation and the dealer should be willing to eat most of it. Go to KBB.com and punch in the values on the vehicle as a trade-in to dealer against the value of it being sold in a private sale and your target price should be somewhere in the middle.

Personally, I wouldn't buy any used vehicle with 3000 miles on it.....a new one, yes, because it may have been a demo or used by the manager....but, a used one never. There is a darn good reason why an owner dumped a new vehicle during the honeymoon period....and the dealer should have the title on a used one. Tell him you'd like to give the former owner a call to verify any claims the dealer has made, i.e. wanted an 8 passenger SUV or something else (more likely) if it is a buy back under the lemon law because it has spent more time in the shop than on the road, etc.

And mileage is irrelevant. I once returned a new '04 300M the same day, registered electronically with DMV by the dealer with less than 25 miles because when I got it home and looked at the paint in the bright Sun there was undisclosed repairs to damage on the door, fender and bumper. Dealer made a load of excuses but gladly took it back faced with potential penalties under MD law......bottom line is the next week the vehicle was being sold as an ultra low mileage used vehicle.

There's a duramax dually high country used at my local dealer with 2000 miles. I asked the salesman why anyone would trade in a truck with 2000 miles. He said They didn't have a choice, they had to sell it or lose it.

So the same thing may have happened with the truck in this thread.

I traded my 2016 2500 with 900 miles on it because the steering was so sloppy and wandered so bad that I refused to drive it. Dealer couldn't fix it. I have a 2016 dmax now <3

Thanks for all the advice. I reached out to the dealer for more information on the truck. I think I will also call my locate GMC dealer and see if they can run the vin and tell me the service history on the truck.

According to my GMC dealer the truck has never been brought in since it was delivered.
