Started my 2016 less than 1,000 miles, turned on AC, the button illuminated that AC was on but after 2 min still hot air blowing. Turned AC button off then on again and it started blowing cold. This happen to anyone else?

The A/C in the my new truck-15 Sierra.. Is not nearly as cold as my 06 Silverado was. Must just be the way the new trucks are.

I have a 15 but had same problem last summer...pinhole leak in the condenser

Same issue here on my 14. I think it is the schrader valve on the low. Tightened it and doesn't seem to be leaking now. We'll see. Takes 2 weeks and normally the freon leaks all the way out. Then back to not working.

I doubt mine has anything actually leaking, since it has been ice cold since. i seemed more like a button/computer problem. The button was on but it didnt actually turn on the ac. As soon as i turned the button off/on again, it started cranking cold air. i hope it was just a fluke, but it hasn't happened since.

If you want ice cold air, set it all the way down to LO. Otherwise it always blends in some heated air.

I had this happen several times in my '09 Impala. It turns out that GM A/C relays sometimes stick and do not pull in. After I turned off the engine and restarted it, the A/C worked great. This happened only about two times in 6 years/100k miles of ownership. I carry a spare A/C relay in my glove box in case the original relay fails for good.

Thanks for posting this shamrock I too had the craziest thing happen the other afternoon with my AC. Was in high 90's and truck was parked in full sun AS USUAL. Jumped in and fired up and pulled around the building to the plant road, air was hot coming out of vents as expected and normal for the first little bit (I would say normal for the first 30 seconds) but this time it stayed hot for much more time than usual and actually seemed to be heating for about 3 to 4 minutes total (almost unbearable) and then it seemed to kick in and start cooling after about 3 minutes run time. AC light was on but it WAS HEATING NOT COOLING Almost like a blend door was not operating correctly. Might want to watch this thread wondering if there may be a common problem here on this. Gotta love this forum if something is going on with these trucks you can bet that there is already a thread started about it LOL.
