2016 GMC Sierra Denali lacking options/equipment?

OH, i forgot to mention, all 2017 F150's will have the auto start-stop added to all EcoBoost engines as well. That means the engine shuts off when possible to conserve fuel and then automatically starts when it is required by the system.

 

This is definitely something I want to avoid. Fortunately, It can be temporarily disabled but it only last for the current ignition cycle. I believe this can be permanently disabled as well but I haven't found the solution yet.

 

Here are some notes I found on the internet.

 

"Disabling Auto StartStop

Press the Auto StartStop button located on the center console to switch the system off. The button will illuminate. This will only deactivate the system for the current ignition cycle. Press the button again to restore Auto StartStop function.

Note: If the Shift to P, Restart Engine message appears and the amber Auto StartStop indicator light is flashing, automatic restart is not available. You must restart the vehicle manually. See Information Displays (page 105).

If your vehicle is in an engine off Auto StartStop state and you change the transmission to reverse ® while the brake pedal is not pressed, the message Auto StartStop Press Brake to Start Engine will appear. You must press the brake pedal within 10 seconds or a shift to park (P) and a manual restart will be required."

Messaging seats

360 camera birds eye view and a button to activate whenever

Mirrors can be used as led spotlights

Express all windows

Sport button , which to me feels like afm gets turned off

These are just a few I know off top of my head. Again to some these may be worthless options but they are options.

First rule of selling incremental commodities when you have a large chunk of market share:

 

Even if you have lots of features ready to go, you don't put them all in the next version. You stagger them across releases to increase upgrade sales of the product line. Otherwise, you'll have to spend more R&D money release to release to come up with new stuff.

 

We do it all the time at the company I work for. We watch the competition and then say "ok, time to drop in that", and wallah, new version!

I don't see why people are getting butt hurt. In a lot of ways the GM trucks are behind in technology. Heck look at the HD line of trucks and they way down on tow ratings. Or supposedly the new 2017 HD's didn't even get the new headlights the 2016 half tons got. In the end I love my GM trucks and will continue to buy because of their reliability and quality. But they do have lots of room to improve as well.

You can permanently disable start/stop with a tuner. Personally I think it's a great idea, I often sit in traffic for 15 minutes leaving the city after work, only moving 3 car lengths every light. I know it kills my fuel economy and wouldn't mind if the truck was shut off for most of that.

I sell new GMC's. It's unbelievable how many sales I've lost b/c ford has heated rear seats and air vents... When our GM rep comes quarterly I always tell him what's going on in peoples minds. Blows my mind how someone would pick a ford with those two options over a gmc, considering the guy driving it is never in the back seat....

Not that I'd ever buy one of these.....but the competition all have rear vents, and heated back seats as options.

 

Here's a perfect example of why I would appreciate rear vents and rear heated seats. Myself and three buddies go on a hunting trip to NW Nebraska every year. When it gets extremely cold and we've been sitting in snow for hours, having heated rear seats is a blessing. When you feel the heat start to warm your butt it is the best feeling in the world. Being able to put your cold hands in front of the vents blowing warm air really helps to get the blood flowing again.

 

Additionally, the placement of the cup holders on the back of the console is a great idea. Both the F150 and the Titan have them. For example, when you're driving for 24 hours straight from FL to Nebraska the rear passengers tend to build nests for sleeping. They don't want the center of the rear seat folded down to hold their drinks. They want to put them somewhere convenient while being able to stretch out on the back seat.

 

For every person that says I don't need this or I don't need that, there are thousands of other people that do want those things.

 

The fact of the matter is, why be the only manufacturer without them?

Blows my mind how someone would pick a ford with those two options over a gmc, considering the guy driving it is never in the back seat....

You sell cars and you really can't understand how people would want certain options esp ones like having the people in the backseat be comfortable? I think about my family when I buy my cars.

 

Why even have a passenger seat the wife can ride in the bed. Just ridiculous

GM needs to add these two small options b/c we are losing sales and there is no reason not to, especially on a Denali. The gm rep always tells me, "well, we have better circulation"..... well, people are not buying it b/c it doesn't have vents or heated seats. I can tell you GMC would sell a lot more with three (now days) basic options...push button start, heated back seats, and vents.

Need to put a rear 110v plug in the back while they are adding rear HVAC vents.

Like the Ford-F150 and now the 2017 F250, 350 and 450 have.

 

I had my first Ford ever, a 2015 loaded F150, until a few weeks ago. The rear passenger area is far superior to the GM.

 

As a matter of fact, I'm kind regretting my decision to trade it.

The gm rep always tells me, "well, we have better circulation"..... well, people are not buying it b/c it doesn't have vents or heated seats. I can tell you GMC would sell a lot more with three (now days) basic options...push button start, heated back seats, and vents.

You never know with these forums, at least in sales you are getting it right. Everyone knows GM skimped on the rear vents even if the heating cooling is "adequate" Thanks for letting gm know what your customers are asking for. I think the new trucks will be better
