Tonneau cover advice

Received my retrax pro mx today and unfortunately I received it damaged. Makes me wonder if I made a mistake with this manufacture. If it can't handle shipping while packaged then how can it withstand a lifetime of use.

Another vote here to avoid Bakflip. Their earlier covers were garbage; were known to fall apart, rust, sag, and as Mudkatt said, the finish would peel exposing the fiber polymers, oh let's not forget crack. I had three different Bakflips on my previous 2007 Tacoma, yes in the 6 years I owned that truck, my G2 cover was replaced 3 times. Bak had terrible customer service back then in terms of getting a hold of them. Maybe their quality has changed and their customer service dept staffed by more than 1 person, but this time I went it's an Undercover Flex and have been happy. I will say Bak, Undercover, Gator, and I'm sure a few more are all owned by the same parent company, though still operate independently.

FYI I have had nothing but trouble with the fold a cover from steffens. Leaked almost from the start, seals broke in like 3 years and it’s like a 4 hr ordeal to replace just one. Now the locking mechanism with that strap just broke. I’ve had it with this piece of junk! I’m, not a contractor etc so it was not abused just a hunter/fisherman with a pickup truck. There customer service is pretty poor also.

I like my access Lorado tonneau cover.

It is not a secure as some other ones but it is a deterrent along with the locking tailgate. This one was off my 2006 GMC Sierra, it is maybe 4-5 years old and still going strong.

ARE commercial cap IMO. Strong, water proof. Must remove for some objects, but noting is perfect.

I just order a peragon ill let you guys know when i install

2nd on the Peragon. The only issue that I had was the clamp (NoDrill) hardware had to be shimmed to work. Hopefully they have corrected that now, I sent them bac a lot of info on that. I have had mine about 4 months. Color match is excellent.

You can see from the pics that the clamp on brackets are not as long as the drill brackets and the slots are maxed out to get the siderails in the right spot. I actually used aluminum shims to move mine in on the back and middle approx 1/4" if you use the drill brackets they are more than long enough. i could NOT bear to drill holes in my 60k truck bed LOL

shortly after purchasing my '14 GMC in the fall of 2014.

 

This set-up works great for me. Toolbox is 55" long, 22" wide and 15" tall and sits off the bed floor maybe 6-7 inches.

I have had my Retrax 4 years now. I live in Newbrunswick Canada. It works great all year. Still looks great. I would buy this again

Access Lorado on the new truck, but make sure to pull the sides snug to avoid the wrinkles knotsure's picture shows above. The reason I went access was I sold my 06 duramax in early october with an access cover that was put on that truck from my 01 z71 when I bought it. The cover was put on the 01 in 2004 so I got 12 years of use out of that cover and never had a single issue with it. I have installed other access covers on freinds and familys trucks and never had a problem yet.
