Ya usually I would want a new truck but I absolutely love the midnight edition and I really don't like the new body style so I would want the same exact truck but I highly doubt I'd be able to find a NEW 2015 midnight

Bummer, good part is no injuries other than midnight. Throw in for power steps, have them credit you for the factory boards. Just a thought.

Mine have held up great. You'd probably have to screw up a bracket or have a weld break before you get any kind of dent. Of course the hoops are small so really just the bar just below the rockers might dent but the wall seems thicker than an ordinary tube step. I see tube steps dented and bent all the time. I don't think the Westons 3" bars that I put on my '98 got any damage other than a bracket bending when a buddy backed into my damn truck. But, that same buddy also dented the 3" Westons on his '06 Sierra. I've never seen a dented drop hoop style bars like the N-fabs I have. I've banged the bottom on a curb and a parking spot curb and nothing. I think some of the powdercoat might have got scratched but no actual damage and I hit them pretty hard. So I don't think I'll even consider those thin wall round or oval tube bars anymore.

That can't be totaled. If that's 80% of the value I that truck, gm is worthless and should shut down tomorrow. There's no way that should even be a question, whether it's going to be totaled.

Be sure to look closely at your frame! Most frame damage cannot be properly repaired (to GM specs) on these trucks due to the high strength steel. A frame replacement in Texas results in a totaled truck. It happened to me and I got a new truck.

Please provide for us the section in TX state insurance regs that states this. I have a TX insurance claims license and am not aware of totaling just because it needs a frame.

 

In TX you can repair up to the full ACV less refinishing costs. No way that truck is even close to being a total from what i can see in the photos, even if it needs a frame.

My father got tboned years ago, since then every vehicle he has put 3" steel pipe bars on the sides. He has a friend that owns a fab/weld shop. Usually the shop will credit OEM parts for whatever upgrades you want to make, good time to get stuff done while it's down

Ya NFab is located like 5 min from my house and one of my best friends actually used to work there and still has a fairly decent relationship with those guys so I'm gonna see about gettin some once I hear back from the insurance folks

I don't think it's an insurance rule, it's Texas law. Frame replacement = salvage title. I have Farmers insurance and was having my 2014 repaired at my local Caliber Collision shop. They go 100% by GM repair manuals. My damage called for frame replacement due to the HSS. Texas law said totaled vehicle. I got a new truck. Simple as that.

 

My insurance adjuster wasn't aware of the rule either - she hadn't dealt with a frame replacement before, only repairs. The shop clued her in.

I am reasonably sure you are correct however I wouldn't be so quick to confirm or blame the manufacturer. When a vehicle is "totaled" it is a reflection of costs to repair approaching cost of replacement. I have seen cars that most would say are "write-offs" repaired to new and cars that still drive and look reasonable determined to be totaled!

I'd still like to see a copy of the refs that states that. The state statue. I asked our salvage mgr about this the last time I read it and he was aware of no such law and he's a very "by the book" guy. Hey if it's there, it's there. I'd just like to read it. Google search did not help last I checked

My 2014 CC 5.3 4x4 SLT Sierra was totaled w/ equal to less damage, side swiped telephone pole @ 35ish lost passenger side front wheel/front fender/bumper damage minor hood damage & totaled. Probably may have needed frame straightening (which this I'm guessing would too) which is $$$

 

You're nuts if you don't think (hope?) this truck would be totaled, if not I'd love to start an insurance company w/ you as my first client ;-)
