Dual Climate Question

Morning all I have a question for you, so the last couple of mornings it's been a bit cold in NY. My truck has the dual Climate controls, and I usually like to leave it on auto. For some reason, when I have the temp up say from 76° higher to have the best on, and I select Auto, the A/C light comes on. And I don't think i can turn it off unless I press it and it turns off auto as well. Does anyone else have this same issue? Is this the way it's suppose to be? I just can't imagine why you would need the AC on for heating.

I think that's just how auto climate control works, I believe mine does it as well

Thats how it works. All I ever do is turn the temp up or down and let it do the rest. I think it works really well.

Yep, there's a reason why the AC will come into play. Someone told me why once but for the life of me I can't remember the explanation...mind is the 1st thing to go LOL. FWIW... mine does the same thing.

On another note.... My heated seats option kicks in when I use the remote start. Is that the way it's supposed to be? Not complaining at all about that as it is nice to climb into the truck on a cold morn to a nice warm seat. I like it, just not sure it's supposed to be that way.

You can turn the heated seats option off thru the vehicle options on the touchscreen. I believe they only turn on when the temp falls below a certain set point?

My last 3 chevys also turn on the rear defroster and I think the front defroster if t dips below 40° I think.

The AC light will always be on when using Auto. I've heard that just because the AC light is on doesn't necessarily mean it's running the AC. If you think about it, the AC always comes on with the Defroster setting anyway, it's so the air is dry.

I've actually made it a habit to just always have AC selected when I manually control the hvac system in the cold months. No more foggy windows especially with a few passengers.

the ac comes on automatically (auto mode) because it "dries" the air which will defrost your window quicker. summer time is self explanatory if the ac light is on, the compressor is on, as well. the ac compressor functions (even without the light on) when you use any of the defrost features (air to the windshield)..

Yes, the ac system is also a dehumidifier which reduces fogging on the interior of the windows. If the inside air is recirculated without drying it out, the vehicle's windows will always be foggy inside.

I think you can turn the a/c off and all other settings will still run on "auto" .

Think of the a/c light as indicated 'enabled' rather than 'on' -- meaning it might run the compressor to reduce the humidity so the windows don't fog.

( The light can be on when the compressor is not engaged. )

When you press auto, on the screen it shows AC Auto. Just weird that the light would be on when it's not running. I guess I just figured that the light would be off and go on when it needed to be on to maintain the selected temperature.
