I hate my 6" Suspension lift

So if I have the parts it is possible to bring it back to stock then? I got it lifted at a local shop, and didn't know too much about what went into lifting the truck so I didn't think to ask to keep any parts. The only thing I kept was stock tires. So unless by some crazy miracle the shop kept the parts, is it possible to buy whats needed?

If they do a lot of lifts they probably have the crossmember or one just like it. It would have to be fitted and rewelded but that is no biggie.

Last year My Brother was in your shoes, we went to a local shop and they had several crossmembers and also all of the other parts he needed. His truck was a Rocky Ridge conversion so he had zero parts to reinstall. He located all of them at this shop, gave $50 for all.

Lol!! Why not just buy a smaller lift and install that instead of trying to sell a 35k truck and start over.

Well, based on the info he gave and why he hates his lift, stepping down to a 4" lift isn't going to solve any of his issues. 4" lifts don't turn any sharper than 6" lifts, and oversize tires don't ride like stocker do. His x-member is cut, so unless he is a competent welder, it will be a considerable expense to re-fit everything back to stock. Why not just sell as is, take the sale money, and get another truck?

A 4" lift with 33" tires would move him down 3 inches, which is pretty significant IMO. My understanding is that many 6" lifts are just a spaced up 4" lift. So maybe it'd be possible to just go to some 4" Bilstiens, and keep the lift?

This thread is an example of why I enjoy this forum! If I procrastinate long enough, my dream modifications will pass! I think 6" lifts look sharp, but I've never driven a truck with this modification. I also am aware that all lift kits aren't created equal. You may be suffering from a case of "you get what you pay for". I would definitely take my truck to a reputable shop and have it brought back to stock. I am sure this would be a straight forward procedure for a shop that installs lifts on a regular basis. I believe you will also find you will receive a better trade-in value for a truck with stock suspension!

The cost to have the crossmember welded wouldn't come close to the cost you would lose trying to sell an already lifted truck. The cost of a smaller quality lift and the welding would be way under 2k. Trying to sell a used truck you will take way more than a 2k hit. That just doesn't make sense.

Totally understand John. I wish I would’ve seen this post before I ruined my perfectly good Sierra. It’s a 1500 2 wd but I wanted the off road look. So my jock mentality said go big! Put a 7 inch Rough Country lift with 35 inch Nittos on 22x10 wheels. Everything you said is exactly what I experienced. I got so frustrated that I had a couple beers and started taking the lift apart in the garage. Took me a couple days but undid all the work the shop did. Still trying to sell off my parts. Most expensive mistake to date. A great lesson though. ??‍♂️

I did 33"s on 22x10 with a 2.5 suspension lift and actually like it with exception for the trade offs in acceleration, top speed and mileage. Any more and it would suck. Using a spacer type lift takes away a lot of the performance as does large, heavy wheels. Drop it to a 4" or less and re-gear and you might like it. Lift design comes into play a lot. and accounting for the heavy tires with gears and tune can give you back a lot. However, stock light weight wheels on factory sizes keep mileage and handling. Shouldn't cost a lot to return to stock.

You should be able to buy 4 inch pro comp strut spacers? Many suspension companies sell components to there lift kits separately, and like mentioned above some kits are the same from 4-6 inch except from the size of the spacer used to get the ride height. If I were you id contact procomp
