Apparently GM engine codes have leaked for 2018

 

Looks like they are adding an Lt5, which is DOHC.

 

Most certainly won't see duty in our trucks, and is likely for the upcoming corvette zr1, but cool regardless

Which was also called the lt5....

 

Lotus built that one for gm. GM has enough experience with dohc now.

One of the reasons Chevy stayed with push rod V8's for the Corvette is overall height. I'm curious to know how they'd squeeze a DOHC V8 motor inside the existing C7 unless of course it's for the rumored mid engine C8. Maybe Camaro?

Am I missing something or is the 4.3L not on there? I'm gonna miss that motor if it's gone...there is no better engine imo for light duty truck use, aside from the old inline and slant 6's of the big 3 and the Toyota/Nissan 4-cylinders.

I can just imagine the timing chain, pulleys, guides and idlers on that baby.

 

And add twin turbos to that power plant.

I would take a 6.0 in a 1500/1500 HD any day of the week; I don't need a 3/4 ton chassis. Or better yet, a direct injected, VVT'd version of the Vortec 8100.

Typically they have separate 'vincard' engine tables for car and truck; and this seems to be a car table.

LT5 doesn't say AFM like the LT4. If chevy can build a half ton without AFM im trading.

I had to laugh when someone in here said the C4 ZR1 LT5 was a failure. That was a great engine, they had very little issues and at the time made more power than most other engines on the market.
