In the new 2017 Catalog, there is no mention of Aluminum or Steel control arms anymore for any of the Chevy / Gm Applications. All systems are designed for both trucks per FOX.

Unless otherwise noted, all 2.0 FOX Shocks are sold individually and all application specific 2.5 shocks and coilovers are sold in pairs.

 

We do fronts for $690 delivered, or the whole set for $910. We also have shocks for lifted applications if you want to upgrade your current lift!

Do you have a link for the set for front and rear? How much would it be for a package with uca also? Think uca are really needed if I'm only doing minor trail stuff. Not looking at running the 1000.

I called Fox the other day and told them I have aluminum control arms, the rep told me they are only making the one model now and it is compatible for all 1500 model trucks, steel or aluminum...... of course, time will tell.

Did you measure your fenders before and after? I wonder if you are sitting any higher with the fox shocks. Tell me more about the ride. I have rancho quick lifts in the front and bilsteins in the rear. The ranchos you had were stock or quicklifts?

i had adjusted my fox 2.0s to level it 2.2 inches. they are really hard to spin that locking collar, but once done the ride is sooooooo much better than the stock ranchos. great choice.

How many threads did you have left in order to get 2.2" ? You've made me commit to the 2.0 system now haha! Only looking for an even 2" of level though.

haha when i get home i will count them for ya, we just got a snow storm here in CT. i want to say 19 threads tho.

I went to go order the set. First said 846 I think. Went to look at something else and went back to the set and now says970. Did they go up?

With this pricing and your consistent forum presence/support, I'm very interested.

 

So anything that you sell is now compatible with my aluminum UCAs? I remember reading issues a while back and therefore held off. One forum member stated Fox's answer was to crank down on the collar(not happening) I need to be able to get the 2" or at least close to clear my existing 275/70/18 Duratracs. Do you happen to know how Fox was able to make a model applicable to all the different UCAs?

I gained almost an inch (9/10ths) with the Fox coilovers. As for the ride it is definitely improved over stock. The best analogy I can come up with to rate the improvement is; Rancho (stock) C-, Fox B or B+. I should point out I have not tested how they perform on a really rough road other than a bad railroad crossing and for that I would rate them A-.

Any reasons to choose the 2.5 over the 2.0 apart from being able to ride harder for longer? Is the ride better in one vs the other, or is it merely a question of oil volume and cooling?

The valving ratio is the same so they should ride very close on road, its when you start to tackle larger bumps and holes as well as work them harder offroad where the 2.5" becomes a better option. If you have huge tires the 2.5 will be able to better handle them, and they have more options in terms of the reservoir and the DSC control knobs you cant get on the 2.0

Ignore the photo of the spanner wrench, but the part number and pricing are right on that link. We will get some new photos up during our next server update.

 

You might be referring to part number 983-02-086​ which has been discontinued. Here is what FOX says regarding the 2.0s and the aluminum suspension and the current part number.

 

I appreciate your interest in Fox shocks. Yes, that is the correct part number for your truck with the aluminum suspension. They come pre-set with a 2” above stock height setting, but are adjustable in each direction. You can get it pretty close to stock height, while also being about to max it out at about 3” above stock if need be. It is a direct fit shock, so all the hardware is included to get it mounted. I hope this info helps your search, but feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

      This is just a thought as I can't claim this is the correct thing to do but will suggest it and you can decide if its something you would try. First round up some electrical contact cleaner spray as they at least claim its not supposed to damage the components ( brake cleaner depending on the type is a real destroyer of plastic etc ) and to use that to assist to clean out any grime from the pins as well as the mechanism by spraying and working the lever etc. Then my next thought is to use silicone spray lube and not on the pins but on the seal and the pivot assembly. It may not be possible to spray it on certain area's and have to use a q tip as Davestar mentioned to keep it from getting on the pins. Dielectric grease can be fine on some things but its easy to get too much on if not careful and then gunk things up and a possible risk of getting it on the pins or sockets. The silicone spray is able to get into a mechanical component to help lube and on surfaces its just a fine film to reduce friction such as that seal. Also it can be doused off with a good flush of the electrical contact cleaner the next time for a repeat of a "clean and then lightly lube" step process to wash off any dirt that had stuck to the exterior etc of the plug.   Free advice, yes. Good advice ... now there's the question mark !

      Why don't I have a good scanner? I've always wanted one when I've needed one.   My latest reading says I don't need to do a relearn on the ckp sensor on a 1995 with OBD 1.5. The relearn is prescribed for the later-model 1995's which shipped with actual OBD II when GM completed the transition in prep for the 1996 MY. I need to confirm that. Did you know forums are disappearing? Knuckleheads on Facebook... it's not the same. It's just not.   So, scanners. Again, shooting myself in the foot for having eBayed my Snap On MT2500 "brick" with all the adapters. Not that I couldn't buy another but those are getting quite old, and mine wasn't new enough to work on 2000's vehicles.   Damn it (as I'm scanning my email between paragraphs here). Did you know there's a 2000 Jimmy 2-door on BaT that's ending this morning? It's local. I want it. 14k miles. Absolutely beautiful.   Back to scanners. MT2500's are old. Solus, now that could be a contender. There's a ~2008 Verus with a system error that's basically new in box for cheap. Hmm...I'm not sure about a scanner that runs an archaic version of windows (95 or CE, I can't tell).   I want the ability to reset and rotate TPMS, test individual modules, bleed ABS, electronic parking brake controls for servicing brakes, relearn procedures and other bidirectional controls.   Snap On does an MT2600. It's a new model as of last year, marketed as their "entry" scanner. Entry? Only where $1900 gets you through the doorway plus, I'm guessing, $1000/year if you wish to keep it current. So goes scan tools actually designed for production environments. Want decent products with excellent support, you pay for it.   Everyone is raving about Autels and TopDons and Foxconns and all these newer brands that are selling the $500 "prosumer" scanners for backyard hacks like me. They're tempting...honestly. Updates are cheaper, base prices are remarkably cheaper... And you get to deal with bugs and translation whoopsies and, well, just don't use it on anything expensive, OK? Having a dealer replace an ECU because it needs to be re-imaged after an adventure in scanning is no joke. But I think most people are getting by OK with these units.   eBay on a scratch-and-sniff pro-model oldie, a shiny new TopDon, or???   God dang it, I can't stop looking at this Jimmy. I'm ready! I'll Bring The TRailer! It's beautiful.

      I removed the OE running boards.  It looked so much better.  I wish I took them off a long time ago.     I had to put something back on for my wife.  I wanted Westin Sure Grip Running Boards but they are very pricey, like $600 plus.  I was going to go with the Ionic 41's like I had on the 2019 Silverado but went with Westin Outlaw Drop Steps instead, about $200 cheaper.  They are sturdy and functional but not super crazy about the look, but it works.
