Good deal you did a lot better than I did, mine was 85 days between ordered and built and has been in shipping for 14 more now. Shipping expiration is next Monday hope to have it soon. Ironically my 2014 took 16 weeks and I got it 2/18/14 Weird that they both followed almost the exact same timeline 3 years apart. Especially since my salesman who is a buddy of mine said it wouldn't take as long this time around LOL.

Even with the holidays - yours must of had a constraint on parts availability or something.......

I too was looking for a 2017 GMC or Silverado dbl cab MaxTow 6.2. I looked and looked. Lots of Crew Cabs but no Double cab. Like looking for a unicorn. Went in to order but knew it would be cheaper in dealer stock. Finally found not 1 but 4 of the identical rigs in a GMC dealer in so Idaho. 11k off msrp. The unicorn raised his head. . Flying in and driving away later this week. Will have to change my picture since I sold my Silverado

Sweet - Did you land the exterior and interior colors you wanted - or did that matter?

Yes on exterior but no on interior color but when you buy from stock as you know, you gets what they gots as they say price was great much less than I was quoted from dealers to order.

One nice thing about buying a state away - the drive home about breaks in the running gear (remember it's a much about the differentials as the engine). Bought my 2007.5 at Dave Smith..........

Page 267 Owners Manual:

New Vehicle Break-In

Caution

The vehicle does not need an

elaborate break-in. But it will

perform better in the long run if

you follow these guidelines:

. Keep the vehicle speed at

88 km/h (55 mph) or less for

the first 805 km (500 mi).

. Do not drive at any one

constant speed, fast or slow,

for the first 805 km (500 mi).

Do not make full-throttle

starts. Avoid downshifting to

brake or slow the vehicle.

. Avoid making hard stops for

the first 322 km (200 mi) or

so. During this time the new

brake linings are not yet

broken in. Hard stops with

new linings can mean

premature wear and earlier

replacement. Follow this

breaking-in guideline every

time you get new brake

linings.

. Do not tow a trailer during

break-in. See Trailer Towing

0 318 for the trailer towing

capabilities of the vehicle

and more information.

Following break-in, engine speed

and load can be gradually

increased.

I can deal with the break-in comments as it pertains to the brakes. On the engine, not so much. I am not advocating redlining and doing goofy stuff either. In over 45 years of vehicle ownership, i have found that if you drive it like you normally would, you get the best results. Some would advocate driving it like you stole it, but I won't do that. But I will not do that 55 mph max babying crap either. If you drive it like you normally would, then it will have a wide variety of break in conditions that will get the engine settled in for a long life. I have taken many personal vehicle engines to well beyond 200,000 miles and I have yet to have a major problem with any of them. Not even an oil eater in the bunch. Only time I have ever had a problem was taking over someone else's piece of junk that they didn't break it in well and didn't maintain it properly.

I also do something that each person can decide for themselves is worth it or not. I always change out the factory engine oil between 1000-2000 miles, then do my normal oil change intervals after that. I change out the entire drive train factory fill by around 5000 miles, and then go to normal intervals. Just like with my engines, I have never had diff, trans, or Xfer bite the dust. Maybe because of doing this, maybe not. Everyone can decide for themselves. I just use the same methodology that many will use for heavy commercial vehicles. And on those, I have never had a major failure in 1 million miles on any of my commercial stuff. Every one of them I have taken to 1 million miles or more. 654,000 on my present 2013 heavy truck and the engine only uses about 2 qt of oil in 25,000 miles. That is better than most pickups on the forums.

Agreed. My thoughts exactly.

Great comments. Just ordered a 2017 duramax. Was not pleased with the color choices but settled on Butte Red, first red one; however did not want black interior so I got the coco/dune that I have now. Have had no problem keeping the seats clean but have leather.

Now in the waiting game. Also hope to sell the 2015 rather than suffer the trade value

Deposit placed today 1/24/17........ We will see how the factory order timeline goes. Can't wait for the :pimp: new ride......

Now to look into WeatherTech floor liners, and some kind of bed cover that is easily removable. Don't think the rig will "need" much else ............

husky liners, have them in both vehicles.

Time to start collecting parts - Ordered WeatherTech floor liners direct from WeatherTech today - Made in America - full coverage under gas pedal and under rear seat cargo area. Same as I had and loved in the 2007.5 and now in the 2015 Subaru Outback family wagon.

Also ordered a full set of cargo tie-downs for the 9 tie-down slots. So that is (13) tie-down points - can't have enough of those....... Have seen these in action - stout compared to the plastic base aftermarket ones.

Those tie downs look pretty stout. I had planned on ordering the factory ones, but somehow it was missed on the build sheet. Where did you order those from? My truck BTW is still in transit, has not been seen since it was in Kansas City railyard back on 2/7 was supposed to be here by last Monday but may not even be in MI yet Grrrrrrr.

Something tells me - mine coming around on a boat from Mexico is also going to be a bit of a wait too......

A buddy at work ordered a 'Vette and it took 2 months from Bowling Green, KY to Washington state.

Yea I have seen and wiggled the plastic ones with stainless retractable rings - too weak feeling - moved all over. These OEM's are tough and solid - can be had a bit better price on eBay - this seller of take-off beds seems to have the best price on the tie downs:

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. I'm telling what the government, your government, data shows.   It wasn't an argument. It wasn't a suggestion. It was a statement of FACT. You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences. "an account based on fact; a blur of fact and fancy." Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed. "Genetic engineering is now a fact. That Chaucer was a real person is an undisputed fact." A real occurrence; an event. "had to prove the facts of the case."
