2017 Max Trailering Built to Order

Recommended Posts

Trade those GoodYear LS2's in on a set of Michelin defenders.

Quieter, smoother, no cold flat spots and prob twice the tire life :)

I totally agree they were the first thing I did ,but I put BFG AT2s on for the heavy sidewall because I tow a large trailer. And they are great in snow.

Half way to "break-in"....... 250 miles on her so far. What a nice car like ride, compared to my 2500 - and it has to have 100+ more features the 2007.5 SLE GMC did not have. Not sure I like the lane-departure - already named that feature the "Nag" or "Nanny"........ Switched it off for no more nagging.

I have kept her in M7 and under 60 when possible - Figure why not let all 8 cylinders work during "break-in"...... Is there something that let's you know when it is in V-4? Not seeing that in the manual....

A few pics after a nice sunny weekend in Seattle:

Man that is a sharp looking truck, and the 6.2 liter to boot, very nice! I ordered my blue 2017 dcsb gmc sierra 6.2 liter max tow a couple weeks ago and am playing the waiting game. I noticed you said you were driving around in M7 and that's exactly what I plan on doing as well unless on the highway. I read in the manual that not only will it keep it in V8 but will also disable grade braking which sounds like a feature a lot of people don't want when they are not towing.

Or turn off the grade braking by pressing the button on the gear lever.

Sick man - 6.2L Max Tow is the cat's meow. Since you are also in the PNW will be interesting to see how long it takes for a double cab. Are you hip to tracking?

The screen between your speedo and tach will show when it's in V8 or V4 when you have the instant mpg option selected. It's the same screen that shows your mpg for the last 25, 200 or 400 miles and the active cylinder number will be on the lower right.

Thanks - That explains why I had not seen it - not a favorite screen yet anyway - LOL........

I checked about 13 days ago and the code was 3100 with a target production week of 3/27/17. the fella that checked for me said I could check back in a couple weeks so I will try and check back in the next day or 2. I have my fingers crossed that it is moving along in the ordering process.

It will be worth the wait, NW bro.

Compliments in the real world from truck guys/gals so far, have been on the bling-bling grille/front and the ext/int color choices.

My likes – Everything pretty much, but especially:

6.2L – Not minding the V8/V4 business – watched it work yesterday - seamless.

8sp – Very smooth shifting. Much easier to move shift handle than in an HD.

G80 Locker – already had it kick in taking off on some loose road shoulder sand.

Car like ride, even on the Good-Year 20’s and shorter wheel base. Liking the “sporty” handling.

Tow mirrors.

GM sprayed in bed liner with Chevy Bowtie.

Yet to see the Intellibeam headlights dim automatically. Tried them this morning but they stayed bright thru an oncoming car. Was raining (go figure in the NW) – Maybe that obstructs the sensor is in the windshield?

Next to add:

Steps, stainless 6” oval

Had time this evening to look over some details on the rig - and to put the bed tie-downs on - decided 3 each side is good - none across the front. It was a pleasant surprise when the truck came it, that the LED bed lights did make the build somehow. I guess whoever put in the order actually read my list, even though the initial order work-bench left them off.

Liking the size of the tires - pretty wide cross section for stock. Looked under at the Max Tow rear leaf springs, and under the front to see how difficult LOF's will be. Just two zerks looks like, and easy access to the oil filter and drain plug - should I decide to do an early oil change.

Wondered what the round cover to the right of the rear license plate was, Googled it and this site popped up - go figure - with a thread describing that it is the spare tire access.

Coming home I had the Forward Collision Alert go off! - Heads-up lights in windshield and all, however those lights work. Pretty neat - was a false alarm - truck turning left quickly in turn lane as I went by at about 30mph - but showcased the feature nicely. The more I learn about this rig - the more I like it!

To top off the commute home - on the new to me SiriusXM radio....... The Garth Brooks channel had the Joe Diffie "Pickup Man" song on and ended as I pulled into the driveway. "When I turned sixteen, I saved a few hundred bucks... My first car was a pickup truck...." Yep - that describes me too - except I was 15 when I bought a 1940 GMC pickup to restore - my first car........

The Intellibeams work great!! , Once you get them turned on.......

once you read the procedure at least 3 times in the manual.....lol

get them turned on they are great, but if you do a flash to pass or manually change beams they turn off and stay off till you reactivate them
