2017 Max Trailering Built to Order

Recommended Posts

Joined the 6.2 Max tow Sierra club today.

I'm actually looking mine more everyday! It's a little stiff riding but once I started learning the mushy unresponsive drive by wire accelerator pedal it became more enjoyable.

Today's upgrade I should have done day one - FlowMaster 50 Series Big Block muffler swap.

OMG - Sooooo happy with the new sound and so is the wife - she says it sounds like a truck now. You most def can hear it - but never is it obnoxious - not even at WOT. Just a nice mellow tone from idle to 75mph and no drone - no chopper - even though I planned to leave the flapper - but didn't say anything about it and they cut out the flapper too. No flapper to rattle or get stuck - the muffler shop says they do see them get stuck..

Neither of us hear any difference in V4 around town or on the highway....

One big plus I hadn't planned on - now I can hear it shift - which helps feel it shift - before I hardly knew when it shifted. Something tells me this will not be good for MPG - it will cause lead foot syndrome...........

Nice! Glad to hear you like the sound. I miss that about my old truck. I think you would have to look hard to find a better sound. I was wondering how it would work out on the new 6.2.

Yes and thank you for your advice. I would recommend this or the 22" MagnaFlow - but I have always been a FlowMaster fan. I have been hauling the FlowMaster muffler around in the cab for a week debating it.

What got me to finally pull the trigger was all the muffler delete threads - I thought that can't have a good tone - yet people like it - so no way is the "quietest" FlowMaster going to be too loud.......

Nice! Looks like you made a good call.

I am sure liking the FlowMaster on mine for two days now. Towed up a long grade this morning - no drone - just a nice throaty sound even working it.... Wanted to do a "1,000 mile tow" to help with "break-in". Read an article about that when I bought the Duramax and did the same with it in 2007. The Max Tow has 1,100 on her today.

Set the cruise and let the Max Trailering do the work in tow haul. When I turned around at the top the muffler was smoking off the finish - so I would day she got lathered up a smidgen. Really it pulled like a champ can't wait to tow over Snoqualimie Pass this summer.........

I put this in the Mobil 1 annual oil thread, but I though I might specifically ask the 6.2l club. My new Sierra 6.2 shows oil far above the top of the dip stick hatch marking. Dealer screw up or dip stick not accurate?

my oil shows overfull in the morning, if you start vehicle idle for a bit then recheck its on the money.

Hmm, manual reads to check cold and should not be above cross hatch, but It also talks about if you cannot do it cold, wait 15 minutes and then check. That is how I've always checked my vehicles. Now transmission fluid, that's a different method.

Anyway, my question was to see if the dipstick is misleading, looks like it isn't and the dealer overfilled. Wouldn't that be cool if the system had a "too full" electronic indicator like the "too low" indicator.

I have checked it at operating temp – but never cold. Hard to read these thin oils and snakey dip-sticks. I about bent the Silverado dip stick the first time – that twisted design is odd – you really have to finesse it back in. When I just swapped out the OEM oil filter for a Mobil 1 M1-212 there was definitely a lot of warm oil drain back from the oil filter connection anyway.

We had a 2010 Mini Cooper and you pretty much had to check it cold to even be able to see it on the dipstick. Mini Cooper owners have developed the “paper towel” method of laying the end on a paper towel - and at whatever point it soaks into the paper towel, that is the level.

Yes, it is difficult to see the oil with the color of the stick and especially on a gray sky day. I drained mine some today and got it down to the top of the crosshatch. It was close to a 1/2 litre over filled. That's a pretty good amount, although I have no idea how much was in the motor before I did the drain. So I won't know if it was over 8 quarts or not.

Decided to check the torque on my wheels since new wheels can work loose.

Did not like the stock lug wrench much to remove the center caps. Remembered I had 2 sets of these - bought them when I replaced speakers in the 2007.5 ..........

Ground the bottom hooked one down to .45" to fit - added a mohawk velcro hair dew for added protection. Works perfect - tucked it under the spare changing tool kit for future use.

BTW - Many of my lug nuts did cinch down a touch - so not a bad idea to check lug nut torque on your new truck's wheels........ 140 ft lbs !
