Do 2017 models support Apple CarPlay wirelessly?

Damn. With bluetooth and a wifi hotspot it should just be a software update. Any idea if android works wirelessly? That might send me in to get a new phone tomorrow.

I use a short 3" USB cord, plug in using one of the ports just below the radio and set my phone in the groove on the console..no big deal. I don't know if Android works wireless or not but even if it did I personally wouldn't go through the effort of going from an Iphone to Android to save plugging in the cord..

The last thing I saw about wireless CarPlay was apple telling VW not to demo it at one of the shows. They had it all ready to go, and apple stepped in.

That's been a little while ago now, but I haven't heard about it being live yet. I follow the tech sites and that sounds like something that might have been coverage worthy.

Android Auto is also wired. Perhaps they'll both go wireless at some point, but who knows. The Bluetooth on some of the systems is garbage. Not specifically my truck, but my 2016 Honda is continuously getting updates to fix Bluetooth issues. So perhaps Apple and Google don't want to be wireless until everything is stable with all the vehicles and their Bluetooth systems.
