Lets talk about z71 vs max tow package suspensions for a minute.

Ok so my dealer tells me absolutely get the z71 as the shocks are larger diameter than the max tow trailer pack suspension.

Does anyone here have first hand experience with this (ie a mechanic who has seen all 3 configurations)???

z71 has the rancho suspension

Max trailer tow pack has "upgraded rear suspension"

Regular 1500s have plain suspensions

I want a nice blacked out LT or higher work truck that always has at least 1000lbs and often haul 2000lbs of hardwood flooring around. The brochure says the v8 6speed cc long bed with 3.73 gears and max trailer tow pack has 2070lbs payload capacity. Is that suspension really better than the z71? Again dealer says go with z71 for better payload but my buddy says max trailer tow pack is better for payload.

Im confused. I just want the hardest suspension in a half ton. This is coming from a 4x4 cc lb frontier that ive added 2 leafs on each side.

Yes you will want the max tow - and payload also includes you and all your gear and options like running boards, bed racks etc and tongue weight if any.......

Here's my max tow with an abundance of tongue weight with a 2,000+ load of gravel on the trailer too far forward - she did squat a little... Compared to a lighter load.......

Yes the Rancho shocks in the z71 suck, they are inferior quality compared to the Rancho aftermarket shock

The springs in an NHT(max tow) truck have 300# higher rate than any other combo

Also NHT trucks get a bigger ring&pinion than the others, and a better ratio

Ride quality in max tow is superior to Z71 quality (shock valving in z71 is too tight)

Like everyone said get the Maxtow, the dealer wants you to get the Z71 probley because thats what he has on the lot. Don't listen to him get what you want. I have the
Maxtow and love it, like everyone said you can change shocks if you need to.

I have a 2015 max tow and those big mirrors you get look awkward on a half ton. I swapped them out for the standard LTZ mirrors and am way happier with it.

Great thanks!

Do I get the big mirrors? I want the normal mirrors!

Yes - Best there is for no blind spot - Had them on my 2500 and no way was I going to have a 1500 with puny mirrors. You will LOVE the mirrors - power folding to boot.......... Memory for 2 drivers........ Etc......

I would be willing to trade you mirrors. Got 17 all terrain with all the bells and Wistles. Don't know what model number they are. Oh they are black

I have driven with both quite a bit.

Trust me you should like the towing mirrors.

Cant see shit on the highway with the (good looking) mirrors

My NHT really handles the tongue weight of my trailer well and doesn't squat like my Z71 did. I put Bilsteins in the front but so far I don't see a reason to change the "upgraded" rears yet. Your dealer may be hung up on the Rancho name or one of those people who are impressed with mass marketed and advertised items.

As for the mirrors it takes some getting used to buy once you learn how to use them they're great. Plus the LED's look pretty cool.. IMHO

NHT comes with the tow mirrors, but once you use them, you might not want to swap down anymore. Best tow mirror I've had experience with. Way better than the Dodge flip ups, and they edge out the Ford one by a good margin.

Once you get the upper and lower mirrors dialed in, you can see EVERYTHING behind you and the lower convex will 95% kill your blind spot.

No, no NO don't. Trust me on this. I have had both. The towing mirrors are way superior. I kicked myself for weeks after buying my 1500 without tow mirrors. I had to go out and buy those stupid slide on additional tow mirrors to see behind our 24 foot TT. I now have a 2500 with the big tow mirrors. They are the best. The lower section shows you what is in your blind spot. It is FAR superior to the little box thing that is on the normal mirrors.
