Wheel Swap - Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Wanted to get everyone's $.02 on a wheel swap I am doing this week. I am trading my stock 18s on 265/65/18 with 2k miles for ultra 245 spline 20x9s with 275/60/r20 nexen roadian at pros with 4k miles on them. I'll attach a photo of my setup/truck and the setup I'm trading for. Thanks in advance!

Are you doing a lift? 33 inches might not fit stock?

I am going to do a 2" RC level at the same time, hopefully that's enough to clear the new setup.

Straight trade? I'd do it, but then again I'm not a fan of those 18s you have

Yea, straight trade, I am not a big fan of the 18s either, but don't want to shell out the dough for a brand new setup, so the straight swap seems like a perfect deal.

Make sure the new ones come with tpms sensors, and you will need to relearn them.

His setup doesn't have TPMS on them, so it looks like I will either have to swap them from my stocks or bite the bullet and buy a new set. Going to talk to a couple shops and see what they can do as far as swapping/relearning is concerned. Thanks for the heads up though, I didn't know about the relearn, had to do some googling.

275-60 20 should fit regardless

get seller to include the tpms

I bet no level needed.....just my .02

Not a fan of either. I like Denali standard wheels or SLT/LTZ polished wheels.

Yea I like those wheels as well. I do like the ultras, maybe wouldn't be my #1 pick, but I think they'll look good on the truck. Usually I stay away from adding chrome, but it'll match my setup nicely and I'm trying to avoid shelling out a bunch of money on aftermarkets.

My 285/45/22 are 32.1 inch and they don't have much room to spare. Those 20 inch he is getting are 33 inch so that might rub? Sure the answer is on here in the wheel thread.

There is a relearn tool on eBay for under $60 to retrigger the tpms. Just make sure it does new model gm vehicles

So the guy came back and said the rims do not have a place for TPMS, his tire guy said it is smooth all the way to the back. I'm not super familiar with this stuff, has anyone done any of the adapters/mounting strap kits? At this point, I am most likely going to pass on the swap, but wanted to see what the options are. Thanks again for the input guys.

Powdercoat your stock 18" wheels black and call it a day.

275/70/18 fits great w/ a 2" level.

I like that idea, how's the longevity of the powdercoat on rims?
