How did this happen???

I have a 2017 LT Silverado 4x4 with the 5.3 and I just lost a drag race to a 2015 Tahoe with the same engine both bone stock. I know these trucks are by no means fast but I didn't expect to lose to a big SUV. I launched in 4 high and immediately got half a car length ahead of him. He caught up to me at around 60 and was a full car length ahead by the time we hit 100. Is this normal or is something wrong with my truck? I do have a leveling kit and 33s while he's got a 2 inch rear drop and stock 20s. All this obviously happened at the track [emoji16]

Im 100% sure something has to be wrong with your truck. Did you call your dealer? Def have them check whats wrong with it

Reg ext or CC? Are the 5.3 engines in both vehicles actually the "same"?

Gear ratio and tires. You probably have a 3.08 rear end and that only got much worse with the huge tires.

Was the Tahoe a 4x4? That in it's self would make the difference, not to mention your tire size. Running in 4 high you loose more HP driving the drive train.

pretty sure both 5.3 motors are the same, he probably has the yellow gas cap mod that'll take e85 fuel and make your car haul ass.

Aerodynamics? They drop the rear of POV tahoes for handling/performanceI believe. And I will second the 3.08 gear ratio. If you're not sure I think the easiest way to find out is ask the dealer for a build sheet if you don't have your window sticker from the purchase.

I was told I have 3.42 when I purchased but I never checked

Alot of things can effect that. Tire size and gear ratio as said already. Maybe he had mods done?

Nope he's completely stock

No it's a regular 2wd. I switched to 2wd after I launched it

For starters, I see bigger than stock rubber on your truck. What gearing do you have?

Yeah I have 33 inch nittos weighing about 70 lbs a piece. I believe I have 3.42 but I have to double check now

It does take ethanol but he claims he was running pump gas at the time
