Finally found a condenser

I've been looking for a condenser for about a month now. No GM OEM parts available as others have mentioned.

I started shopping for aftermarket condensers and quickly found that everywhere I looked they showed they had it online but later cancelled my order due to lack of stock. I think I've had 4-5 refunds in the past week or so. I finally just called a O'Rielley Auto Parts and asked if they could get one. Within about 5 mins, they said they could and it' would be there the same day. I jumped on it. I didn't care what brand or where it was made. $220. APC Made in China

Leak checking it under 105 psi. With luck it'll hold pressure. I'm ready for some cool air.

I do now. But the condenser had a leak. The TSB bracket is a little clamp that ties two lines together. It solves a hardline cracking issue at the compressor.

Anyone looking for an aftermarket condenser....CARiD sent me a notification that they have APDI 7014283 Condensers available. $100.44

As of today GM says 6-8 weeks for condensers.

In 6-8 weeks people will either be a fried twinkie or driving a different vehicle.

I waited about 3 weeks to get one from the dealer when I ordered one about 2 months ago.

I installed the condenser this morning.

I'm in the process of vacuuming the system down. Been about 40 mins. It's at 500 microns. Should be good anywhere below 1000 microns. I'm letting it run at least an hour to ensure the oil is outgassed and the moisture is evac'd. My pump is a 4 CFM Robinair Dual stage I bought on Ebay second hand, but not used, maybe 10 years ago for about $100 as I recall.

Got a leak somewhere.....

.....looks like my High Side gauge set line is leaking. I'll finish the servicing with the Low side and replace the line later. I'll charge by weight, per spec.

My ac just went out yesterday. Called my dealer to set an appointment and they told me a 2 month wait at least on parts. I didn't believe it when I heard it but after searching here I guess it's true. I love paying monthly for a 2 year old truck with no AC in Louisiana in the summer.

I guess this is what professional grade means.... sorry for the slight hijac.

CARiD emailed me, they have APDI condensers in stock. Tell your dealer. GM will cover the aftermarket condenser.

Great that the aftermarket is catching up.

2015 with 22k miles still on the original everything for the AC. So far my VIN hasn't popped up for any of the new brackets or anything.

I am sure my truck is just a ticking time bomb of AC as well.
