GM also sells these in a complete kit, with all hardware. Part number 23176881 which lists for $250. Here is what it includes:

Since component differences are being discussed, the spindles, and all control arms are specific to the Z71 package starting in 2014. This has been verified in the GM parts catalog.

They are bare aluminum. Here is a pic from this site. The owner had these Rhino lined. They fit like a glove.

That looks really good (I am sure yours does too). Why do you need the extra 2 bolts to complete? Asking because I have not crawled under mine to see how many bolts hold the factory plastic piece. Just one piece from the factory, correct?

The black one piece shield is held onto the truck's frame with 6 15mm headed metric bolts. The two separate aluminum plates are held on the truck's frame using 8 15mm headed metric bolts.

So, stupid question, there are a total of 8 holes already on the truck, with the factory piece only using 6? Wonder why you can't upgrade when ordering the truck?

Yes, that is correct. No mods or drilling is required.

If you order option code SAM, It includes the aluminum plates, and steel transfer case skid plate.

What is the 3rd piece (small black one) for, and where does it go?

That is the transfer case skid plate. That is for non Z-71 equipped trucks.

you are a wealth of knowledge on this, so one more question. Do the two pieces cover the transfer case on the Z71, and not on other models, I can't imagine the transfer cases are different, are they?

The single black steel skid plate solely protects the transfer case. It is attached to the crossmember via 4 bolts. This kit includes it, but the Z71 trucks have this exact plate installed at the factory already, so buying the kit will leave you with a spare transfer case skid plate.

There are two different transfer cases used. One for the trucks with the floor lever control, without auto 4 wheel, and the more common electronically controlled transfer case with the auto-4 wheel selection. The same skid plate works with both of these.

Thank you very much for all of the info, looks like I will be adding more things to my truck. I have a Rhino dealer right down the street, I like that look.

So I am putting in the individual part numbers for the 2 pieces on GMPartsdirect.com and it says that they do not fit my vehicle. Where did you buy yours?
