Update, I received the Echomaster Intellahaul front camera system.  Extremely easy install.  Just watch the videos on Youtube by Echomaster.  The hardest part was going through the firewall.  There is a rubber grommet, where the main wiring harness goes through, but there seems to be multiple layers to it and under the dash you can't seem to get your hand through all the mechanicals to even get to the grommet.  In about an hour or so it was complete.  The instructions state to put the camera right under the bowtie but I chose to go lower after what Jmiller11331 recommended.  All in all I am very happy with the result. 

 

What part number did you go with? I’m only seeing options for the 2018, but i figure it will probably work on my 2015 Sierra. Thanks.

I bought the Single Front Camera System for $399.   I have a 2017 and yes, I also bought the 2018.

I used the backup camera for my Garmin and mounted it above the M in the grille of my 17 GMC. You have to look really hard to see it. Instead of using a switch, I wired it so that it changes from GPS to front camera whenever I press on the brakes. Real handy when I am parking close to anything in front of me.

Great idea.  Backup camera kits often come on sale for less than $100 at my local auto store and I often wondered if these would work well as a front camera.  They don't advertise these products as having the option of being used up front but I don't see why not.  Of course they wont be integrated with your dash display but an additional small screen dedicated to this purpose would look fine when considering the money saved!

I’m very interested in this product. I don’t quite have a feel for the front end yet, so this would be nice for parking in tight spots.  A couple of questions. Have there been any issues for anyone that has had them installed for a while?  Did anyone route the wire someplace other than that big rubber plug? I don’t really want to cut that. Ty

Donstar. Did you go with the intellihaul camera, and how do you like it? Where did you route the camera wire? Ty

I installed an aftermarket Pioneer radio and slapped a camera under the transmission looking forward.  My wife's not very good at spotting while offroad so this turned out really well.  I can see where my tires are in relation to the trail.  I can't remember which camera I bought but it wasnt very expensive.

I am considering doing this mod, once you get cable through the firewall, do you have to take the dash apart to connect this camera to the infotainment center? It would be nice to have this camera especially when parking and can't quite get an idea how much clearance you have in front of you.

Does this camera come with everything you need for install?  How diffiecult is it to install?  Thinking about purchasing one for my truck.

Was pretty easy.  Hardest part was running the camera wire through the firewall.  You dont have to add power or anything as it hooks up to the factory radio and works from there.  Comes with everything you need to install.

How much of the dash did you have to take apart or was it just the bezel around the radio to get the cable harness through to connect to the infotainment radio?

Yes just the radio bezel area and you have to plug in a wire at the MVI behind the glovebox.  I did not remove my grill as I just ran the wire and mounted the camera at the M in GMC.  I have a Denali grill.  If you can do any basic work its easy.  I am not a mechanic by any means but I will try a DIY project here and there.
