Trading my 15 5.3 for 18 6.2

We all know nobody needs a 6.2, the 5.3 is plenty to tow more than the chassis can handle.

only purpose of the 6.2 is to make a 5500lb truck not boring to drive

Actually, the 6.2 gives better performance and mpg than the 2014 with crappy 5.3 I had. As a recent DMax owner I was wanting a change from diesel and got talked into a loaded 5.3 saving maybe $3K not buying the 6.2. With the 5.3 I was getting 17-18 mpg on highway and about 10-11 mpg in city and worse was the 4.5 mpg towing a 6K pound Travel Trailer. The new 6.2 is giving me exactly what it says, 14-15 city, 21-22 mpg hwy. Having had literally every truck out there I feel the most important two things owning a truck is capability/power and MPG and the 6.2 is #1, period!

I disagree with if you drive a 5.3 you'll never go back.  I enjoy my 5.3 more then my wife's 6.2

I'm thinking that there might be something wrong with your wife's 6.2L.  I have been a happy 5.3L/5.7L owner for several vehicles, including a 2014 Denali.  The 6.2L is vastly stronger - hands down.  Unless you drive like a grandpa going to church?  Or are you comparing a 2wd RCSB 5.3L to a 4wd CC 6.2L?  All things being equal, the 6.2L is noticeably stronger.  The 5.3L is completely adequate - no question there.  But the 6.2L is definitely noticeably stronger.

There is nothing wrong with it.    I agree the 6.2 is faster    but I think for most people it's a placebo effect.

Rwhp between the 2 motors is 50ish hp.  In 5k lb vehicle. That's not much.

This is just my opinion so I don't want anyone to start raging on me

Is that why every single person except you says there’s a night and day difference, and every single review with an instrument test has the 6.2 blowing the doors off the 5.3?

i mean it’s not an opinion at all, it’s not subjective, it’s actually quantifiable and has been measured countless times. The 6.2 is much faster.

Also look at the transmission.   My 5.3 has 6spd and 6.2 has 8 spd.  That part makes a difference for sure

IN MY OPINION, give them both 6 or 8 spd   and I bet you there isn't a night and day difference.  Yes there will be a difference but not night and day

I can have an opinion like anyone can.

This is just a truck. Not the end of the world

You don’t need to give your opinion.....we are talking about measurable things and numerous people have done just that.

Did you know that I think 2+2=5. It’s just my opinion man...... I’m entitled to it and and I’m going to share it with everybody.

You are correct. You can have your opinion.

Go find another forum to troll

I am not one to troll.  If you didn't like my opinion then just ignore it.  Now this thread is getting cluttered with nonsense.

I'm sorry that I don't see a night and day difference

I'm wrong. You're right. Done?

Those of you who love the 6.2, what would you guys have done if the 6.2 was never offered? Would the 5.3 be enough then?

For towing no it wouldn't have  (obviously depending on weight, I can tow my wife's Chevrolet with my rc 5.3)  the 6.2 does tow better. If not 6.2 was available then I'd grab a dmax.

Just making sure others don’t listen to your factually wrong opinion

Also you are definitely trolling, been frequenting forums for about 20 years now. It’s incredibly obvious. Rookie trolls don’t even realize they are doing it intellionally, it’s just their irritating personality exposing itself. Bet if I searched I could find a ton of obviously controversial comments to get a rise out of people.
