RPO code - reverse lookup ?

I'm not sure that's the right way to put it, but something I can't figure out . . .

 

If you have a sticker that shows RPO codes 11 columns wide &  8 rows deep, is, say, position Col.3 + Row 4 always the code for the same feature ?

Or are they just randomly listed.

 

If it's just random, and you wanted to find, say,  the axle ratio code, then you'd have an RPO lookup chart, and you'd have to, one by one, go through say 88 codes on the sticker, until you found the one that is the same as an axle ratio code - which would be kind of tedious.

 

But if I knew that the axle ratio code was always in position, say,  Col.3 + Row 4 it would be a lot easier.

Aren't they just in alphabetical order ?

is there a specific one you are looking for? your axle ratio, or was that just an example?

 

I know mine is GU6 for the 3.42.

 

People have posted on on here before what the possible axle ratio codes are. Hell if I could find them with the search tool though.

Oh duh, you're right.

I saw a whole mass of codes and didn't take the time to see the alphabetizing.

Sometimes it's just staring you right in the face, too obvious.

Have your local dealer's parts department print you a build out sheet.  It will describe every single code.  Or this site even has a lookup/decoder on it  as well.

Yeah, it's just alphabetical.  There are lots of rpo code decoders online.  I found I have to use more than one to decode all of them for both my '04 and '06 Sierra's.
