You guys beat me.

I started off when I was 15 with a crotch rocket. 50ccm, 3.5hp. Best time of my life :)

Next was my dad's Trabant, 2 cyl, 2 stroke, 600ccm, 26hp.

My first own car was a Ford Sierra (European model), 1,600ccm, 75hp.

Next another Ford Sierra, 2,000ccm, 100hp.

Two Ford Mondeo, 1,800ccm, 115hp.

Divorced and starting over...

VW Polo, 1,100ccm, 40hp lol.

My uncle's G20, 305cui, 185hp.

My second wife's Buick Regal, 2,800ccm, 126hp.

JEEP J10, 401cui, 218hp. My absolute favorite car ever. Sold him with a bleeding heart. :(

Moved to Canada.

GMC Sierra, 4.3L, and some hp.

Buick Regal, 3.8L, 170hp.

GMC Sierra, 5.3L, 315hp.

Chevy Silverado, 5.3L, 315hp.

Nowhere close to what you guys were driving back then. But each and every car I've owned has it's own story. Too much to tell here.

:)

My old muscle. Has an 02 LS6, cammed, 5 speed.

That is nice!  Seriously thinking of keeping my '15 DC, fixing the couple things it needs and buying another Vette.  I absolutely love the '69-'72 cars.  These are the cars I grew up with.   I had a '73 Yellow SBC Coupe and a '71 454 Gun Metal Grey Coupe.  We all have that one car we wish we never sold, the '71 was it.

No, the Acura is the wife’s toy. It was bought new in 01 to replace a Z-28 we gave to our son. We still had the 94 impala as a collector car. After some research and warnings from our insurance company we put the Acura in place of the impala which we sold. My wife believed at the time (I laughed at the time)that is was going to be valuable collector. I drive it once a month, it will go on eBay in a couple of years as a stock unmolested one owner. It not my cup of tea, fast and furious made it a collector.

I call it about 1973 onward. BOOOOOOORING 71/72 were the last gasp of life. 69/70 last real cars of the period. I put the sweet spot on a single year. 1967 and the heart of it 1962-1967. A five year run of about as perfect as a human can make a dream.

1967 Ford Galaxie 500 2dr hardtop. Brittany Blue with white leather 2+2 interior. 428 SCJ and a Toploader. 9" Nodular with Detroit and 3.90: gear. Cragar SS five spoke 15" G60 up front, L60 Micky's out back. If you can picture that car like I can there is nothing built yet today I wouldn't throw rocks at. Inside and out, top to bottom Class of Class. There's not even a million dollar exotic on the planet that's prettier than that combination. But I ask you, was there any real losers in the class of 1967? What happened to design departments that left us all 'look alike' jelly bean cars with 'big mouth fish' grills. U-gly.

Okay, coming down now. Whew, have to catch my breath.....70 Javelin comes pretty close  My best friend in high school had a pale yellow with black trim Donahue fully optioned model he beat like a pup.

Ugly is an understatement. Would love to meet the putz that came up with that look and the fool that approved it.

1973 is about right, 8:1 compression, unleaded gas, velour interiors, 0-60 in an hour and a half, and all the performance cars were just decals on a regular sedan.

Mine was a deal, the back wheels were stolen and they dropped it on the ground. I paid 800$ for it with 30K miles. Fixed the 1/4 panels good to go. Fully loaded even had a low fuel light. Friend of mine had a 72 GTX 440 6 pack. He called my car a rambler, l smoked him at a 30 roll on a back road in New Jersey.

My 65 Custom wasn't a featherweight and being 4dr got a good deal of laughs. It also made me allot of money and embarrassed allot of very respectable cars in those 30 mph rolling start races. Not that I planned it :P but that speed in low gear was right on top of peak torque when that loose converter locked spinning the 4.30 gear and small tires. I could often put enough space between me and them to skip second gear (manual shift kit) and still be over a hundred out the back door in high.  Sounded like a Powerglide when I did that. They would almost catch up and thinking they could win if just a bit quicker on the hit would let me lighten their wallets twice. I used all three on the second pass. Did okay from a standstill as well. Took the same 340 Dart three times in one night. He really wanted to beat me  but could never hook that thing up.

Are you from East Germany? (Trabant/Sierra) My Great Grandfather was. Fathers side.

I learned to ride on a Honda Campus 50 CC. On a frozen creek no less. Nothing says balance like wet ice. Came in handy several times.

My brother in law still has his first car 69 firebird convertible. We grew in the sixties riding in two door Buick’s, Electra 225s and Rivieras 6 of us. Trucks only were for work and 2 doors.

Pickups grew in popularity  in the later 60's  and climbed for family use with the introduction of the super cabs in the seventies.  I preferred pickups because they were like driving a big car without the stigma that was cast on the "gas guzzlers" during the energy crisis days!

    • Here's a starter kit:    CC Jensen, a Danish oil testing Concern gives us the following guidelines:   ISO 14/12/10 Very Clean Oil ISO 16/14/11 Clean Oil ISO 17/15/12 Lightly Contaminated ISO 19/17/14 New Oil ISO 22/20/17 Very Contaminated and not suitable for any service.   In addition CC Jensen gives a table showing how engine life is increased by cleaning up the oil. For example cleaning the oil from 19/17/14 to 13/11/8 will extend motor life by a factor of 6X.   But even cleaning it two “Life Extension Classes” will double motor life. So perhaps giving those classes would be useful:   21/19/16 20/18/15 19/17/14 18/16/13 17/15/12 16/14/11 15/13/10 14/12/9 13/11/8   *************************************   https://testoil.com/program-management/setting-iso-cleanliness-targets/   Third paragraph from the bottom will give a starting point.    Your next question should be, okay 10um at what Beta ratio and the answer is in the graph Beta 75.   Then the next question is what is your chosen filters profile? (Purolator PL series below) The red dot is Beta 75. This was the information I obtained from MANN a few years ago. So the best filters, Purolator One, AMSOIL EA, FRAM Ultra, Royal Purple, Bosch Premium should get a doubling engine life over filters like Purolator L, any service filter from any quick lube, WIX, NAPA, STP, Mobil 1, Purolator BOSS.    And as noted by CC Jensen a 2-5 micron @ Beta 200 bypass system has the capability of a six fold improvement. AMSOIL has such a system as does Donaldson.       Now having said all that testing is the touchstone. Test the oil NEW and test it with your chosen filter. Then test over milage. Do the work, get the result. But understand this in NOT absolute BECAUSE this is one factor in isolation.   Example:    A valve spring supplier can state that with cam X and a valve train of Y grams the valves will not float to 7K rpm. is that true if the builder choose a system 20 grams over limit? Common sense must be used and limits understood.
    • This doesn't look like a GM truck. Not needed on a HD truck
    • It varies a ton around me. Some places are still at $5.00 or higher and others are way down into the $4's.   Offroad diesel was $4.02 at the one station I passed today.
    • So after reading the reveal from Chevrolet, I kept asking myself...why did the trim levels change?   Here are the official ones:   Work Truck (WT): The quintessential fleet truck, built with durable, easy-to-clean interiors for commercial or utilitarian use. Custom: A stylish, road-oriented trim that adds a more refined appearance, standard dual exhaust, and modern exterior styling. Custom Trail Boss: An entry-level off-roader featuring a 2-inch factory suspension lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires on a budget. Silverado: Serving as the new base consumer truck (replacing the previous LT trim), it comes standard with the Z71 off-road package when equipped with 4WD. Trail Boss: Steps up the off-road hardware with the 2-inch lift, 34-inch tires, monotube shocks, an exclusive off-road hood, and more premium interior options. ZR2: The flagship off-roader. It boasts 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic lockers, forged carbon-fiber interior accents, and an available hardcore Bison Edition (co-developed with AEV). High Country: The pinnacle of luxury. It replaces bright chrome with modern satin chrome, 22-inch wheels, premium leather, real wood interior trim, a panoramic sunroof, and an exclusive front-passenger touchscreen. As others have stated, why would you want a Silverado - 'Silverado' - wth?? LT needs to remain!!!   Also, there will no longer be a dedicated Z71 model.  All 4x4 trucks will have the Z71 package. Carplay is also something that cannot be removed.  Hopefully it will remain.     I am excited about the 5.7L V8 (350 C.I.D.)  Old school Chevy power.  My only concern is whatever version of AFM/DFM cylinder deactivation.  Too bad that isn't an option a buyer can choose to have or not.   I will definitely be stopping by my local dealership when these trucks start showing up.
