Shortage of 6.0 CCSB 2500HDTrucks?

I have been looking at Crew Cab Standard Bed 6.0 HD2500's for a while now.  I plan on this being my next truck. I have noticed that many of the big dealerships (Laura etc.) have very limited inventory of the CC 6.0 HD 2500's.  I am not sure why this is, but have read it is due to the new body style trucks coming out.

Is there going to be a run up of these in the near future? I do not tow enough to warrant the 6.6, but it seems that is all that is available right now for a CCSB.

I am not in the market for a loaded SLT or Denali (wish I were).

Appreciate the info if there are any updates

On the Silverado, 3500HD side, I scoured no less than 100 dealer web sites in March/April looking for a 6.0.  By my estimate 90% of the HDs on the lots were diesel.  Of the gas HDs on the lots, most of those were WT.

They have already shut down the 2018 runs and 2019 runs for HDs begin next week.  I have been patiently waiting for pricing on the 2019s before I order the 3500 I want.

Or you seeing 6.0 reg and DC's in the same locations?

Mostly DC's with the 6.0 and all sorts of the diesel 6.6 trucks.

I guess a 2019 will be in my future. I would not mind a 3500 SRW if the ride is about the same as a 2500.

2019 HD are the same truck as 2018.  Carryover body.  Crew cab and double cab only, both long and standard box.  L5P diesel is restricted to crew cab.  Production starts for crew HD next Monday, double cab in July.

2020 is the new body HD.

When I bought my 15 I got really lucky, I found the exact truck I wanted HD 2500 CC 6.0 SLT in white, even with the coca dune interior.  I searched almost 6 months for this and found 2.  Try Todd Wenzel in Grand Rapids MI.  The key is a good sales person, some are too stupid to know how to search.

Have to factor in that most of the HD pickup market is commercial, and in that segment, there is about a 3 to 1 ratio of 6.0 to Dmax.  And location of the country plays into a little.  I did a quick search on Autotrader.com and found 7 pages of listings for 2018 CC 2500's with the 6.0 within 200 miles of my home.   You can track down a pickup you want that way and any dealer can have it brought to your favorite dealership to actually buy it.  I have done that a few times over the years.   One of those times, I didn't even do the research.  I told the dealer exactly what I wanted and told them to do the search, find one, and bring it to their dealership for me to check out and purchase.   I even got a good deal on that one.  The one they located was about 250 miles away from my home in another state.  They had it ready for me to check out in about 3 days.

If going new and looking for a more basic truck, you may be better off ordering one. Seems most dealers only have LTZ/SLT diesels. A basic gasser with a few options must be ordered.

When my brother bought his '16 CC in the fall of '16, the salesman had no problem searching for a truck. Ended up finding a truck that my brother liked in Quebec (next province to ours).

After he searched (both times on GM's internal site which is easier than the public site) for a 3/4 ton regular cab for me. He found a truck a couple of hours away, but not really what I was looking for (carpeted, no tow mirrors) & the savings was negligible from me ordering what I wanted
