I installed some RGB footwell lights this weekend (picture forthcoming) and part of the project involved locating a switched power source and preferably one with retained accessory power.  In the right fuse panel (passenger side) by fuse F27 which is a square shaped fuse, there is an additional prong next to it that will accept a spade connector which you can then run a wire to a separate fuse for whatever you are installing.  I hope this helps someone else since wiring diagrams are not readily available on the net yet.  Enjoy!

Good info, thanks.  I will be adding foot-well lighting  as well.  Hate getting in and not having it.  It is standard on my 2002.  Can't believe they got rid of it.

 Has anyone had the issue of this power source cutting off and back on when the truck cranks from auto stop start ??????

I take it this power source works with the interior lights?  As when you open the door they come on and then go out?

RAP only stays on until the driver door is opened.
Yeah I figured that out after I wired it up lol. I was just concerned because my car charger stays on with the truck off and thought that was the "retained" accessory power

OK on my 2019 that connection is always hot.  Anyone have any more suggestions.  What is an easy way to test it to go off when the dome lights go off?  It's just me so no other help to turn on and off things while I probe with a test light.  I tried the one by the 50amp fuse and it was always on as well.

I hooked up to the one by the 50 amp and my lights will only come on once the truck is running, not with dome lightsd824b4c227ce77ce0cb3591799ae7f27.jpg

Yep, problem is, mine are just LED's.  No controller so they stay on all the time while driving.  Not sure How I will like that at night.  Would rather have a switched source that is connected to the  dome lights.  I just need to find the wire to tap into.

That's what I did on my Tacoma. I had the foot lights and rock lights on with my done lights. If you find that wire, please let me know

I'm looking for the same thing (dome Light control) I am definitely missing footwell lights (as well as puddle lights.)

 

I don't believe it's something we're gonna find in the fuse box.  It's more than likely gonna be a bcm plug.  I think it was grey on the last gen trucks.  

 

Im not a fan of splicing into those wires so I'm thinking of making a pass through plug with a tap of the dome light wire.   

 

Same with my high beams to aux lights. 

 

I'll do some digging when I get a free weekend and let you know.

Anyone figure out if this is possible yet?  I know on the previous years you could tap into the BCM plug.  But wondering if anyone has done it on the 2019's yet?  I would love for the LED's to go on and off with the interior lights.

    • The guy that owns K&P filters last I checked in with him has over 300,000 miles on his Dodge base Hemi using his own 35 micron absolute stainless mesh filter from its first oil change.    The GM study I've posted a dozen times shows the relationship in engine life based in multiples of base units, not miles or years. That is the base unit is the number of miles the motor ran using the reference filter efficiency.    The above two paragraphs dismantle anecdotal arguments IF one changes oil often enough to prevent particle formation and the motor is in otherwise good shape. That is not full of silica (no air filter) or suffering a metallurgical issue that is not part of the lubrication discussion. Poor heat treat in example.   Data from UOA's I've reviewed from more than a few engines can show remarkably broad variations in oil cleanliness using the exact same filter over the course of an engines life.     Lastly there is the common sense of it. Wear debris WILL circulate the engine BEFORE it ever sees a filter in route to that filter and WILL harm the pump which NEVER sees filtered oil.    Alpha question then becomes, given the facts, how long do you believe is a reasonable service life from a vehicle you are certain you will not pass down? That is the junk yard will be it's resting place when you're done with it? (the moral issue most don't care about).    Omega question is then how diligent are you prepared to be in general mechanical, air & oil maintenance? Preventing particulates and keeping them sufficiently dilute; preventing the precursors from generation, amalgamation and precipitation.    If I get a good look at the engine bay of a vehicle I have a fair idea of the owners commitment to the inside of the power train. That 30 micron WIX is still more efficient than a sieve.                 
    • It also depends on what criteria someone is using for “best” when talking filters.  Are we going off best efficiency?   Best quality/QC?  Etc. because the two may not mutually exclusive.

    • I'd guess that it's because they are Mann-Hummel filters since about 2016, they own Wix and are mostly all made in China now.
