Great topic and would love to see more people posing their mileage on the new 2019. I am debating between the 4x4 LTZ and Trailboss but also would like to get best mileage as I am coming from a 2009 2500HD 4X4.

I will get some mpg pics of city driving and highway and post them on Monday.  Taking a trip this weekend with my Trail Boss so I can get you both averages.

I use fuelly.com to log fuel mileage and see what others are getting. You don't have to sign up if you don't want to, just scroll to the bottom of the page and click, browse vehicles. There are some 2019s listed already including a Trail Boss.

Here are some mpg averages that I had during my trip.  Mostly highway with some city driving.  Speed limit was 70 on the highway for the most part.  I drive a 2019 Trailboss with 33.5x12.5 mud tires.

Those are your averages in a 25 mile stint, not the whole 70 mile trip.

I understand that, as I only ever look at 25 mile average personally.  It was a 300 mile trip and those were taken at random times during the trip.  I could switch it to a longer average outlook and post more pics if you would like.  To me, I personally like to see how I am averaging over a short distance since I have more control to adjust my driving than an average that shows hundreds or thousands of miles and will barely ever move.

Recent Trip ~ 70% highway 70 + mph.  High Country, 5.3L 2WD.

You will notice a significant improvement in mpg's moving to any post 2014 GM 1500 ton!

The truck has the same 5,3 L engine but the MPG is less than my 2014 truck. I guess my question is how come the mileage is less with all this less weight n better fuel management . I just put 500 miles on it all highway driving and the average fuel mileage was 18

I believe only offering the tried and true V8's is more of a marketing strategy at this point.  Change has to be given out in manageable dosages!  The fuel economy is similar to the previous generation because the engines are the same.   I will be interested in seeing how the new engines (Diesel and 4cyl) will perform in the real world. Once we get used to the lighter,  larger body style the real fun will begin! (imo)

I would love 18.  Lifetime average on my 13 is 14.7

There is a very noticeable difference found in mpg's in all '14+ Sierra/Silverado 1500 trucks.   I had a '00 Silverado with a 4.8 V8, a '09 Sierra with a 5.3 V8.  Both were very nice trucks to drive but expensive on gas.  My '15 Sierra has a 4.3 V6.  It has the same power as my previous two trucks but requires noticeably fewer visits to the pump.  Others have posted superior gas mileage with their post 14 V8's.  I don't believe we'll see much improvement in mpg's between '18 and '19 until the new engines are introduced.

The V-8's are extremely refined and durable...GM absolutely made the correct call to continue on the platform.  They are 100% better than the competitions and parts will be available for very long time because of this move.  I think the LT's are Awesome!
