2019 1500 (not-limited) Cold Air Intake availability?

So, yeah, being a new truck and all nobody seems to have cold air intakes out, yet.  Just wondering what the lag time is before they begin to show up on the market.  I see GM has one, however there is no real information on it, other than "element of performance-oriented style" which does not say much other than it's a pretty plastic thing in the front of the truck.

Anyone have the OEM CAI?

Hope they start showing up soon....

The OEM CAI requires a fuel remap by the Dealer and is included in the cost.  It also maintains your warranty.  Depending on the Dealer and problem an aftermarket CAI can be used as an excuse to void warranty!

I was literally about to post a thread about this same thing. I have a new 2019 Silverado 6.2L and have been in the market for a CAI system... I am also curious to know if the OEM CAI is worth the money or if I should wait until K&N or another brand releases one

Based on what I am seeing, the OEM version offers self install option.  So not sure what fuel remap is required.  I don't have the shop manual, have not even seen those for sale :\

A certificate for remap is included with CAI.  Here is one site that has them: https://www.shopchevyparts.com/performance/2019-silverado-1500-air-intake-performance-62l-engine/84561598-p-92300616.html

yup, that is the site I was just looking at.  Thought about just ordering it from the dealer and having them install it, but based on the videos, it's about 30 mins worth of work for a novice, which is about where I would fall.  When I was talking to service, they quoted 1 hour.

Not sure the cost is worth any Real gains!  I just replaced my stock element with a K&N.

T1's new design is more complex than K2's simple from the box then 90° to the intake.

Aftermarket companies have more R&D/Engineering, so it will take a little time.

What is the part number of the filter?

Edit: You can ignore me, I found the filter is for the 5.3L.

Is it really worth getting one now or the premium priced GM one to get few HP?

First on the market ones are going to be premium priced im sure, until there is more competition.

I still haven’t pulled the trigger... but, can anyone confirm it’s the same filter as used in the 6.2L?  Sure looks the same.

The K&N Filter #33-5083 replaces GM #84121217, or ACDelco #A3246C.  If the 6.2L has that filter than it will work.

There seems to be a new 'package' here in Canada, which includes;

  • 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine
  • 18" Goodyear Duratrac® tires
  • 18" machined aluminum wheels with Dark Grey accents
  • Performance Upgrade Package
    • Performance Air Intake System
    • Cat-Back Performance Exhaust

There's no price listed though.  Just that it's available as an option.
