Sorry for resurrecting an old post. I thought I would ask here before starting a new thread. Going back in for the 4th time for this issue and was wondering if this repair has held up long term. I was thinking it was 8spd trans related. For my truck the noise is only noticeable at certain transmission temp. Yes it sounds like Rudolph's nose. The dealer has reflashed the TCM, performed a cleaning of the trans mount, and performed bulletin #19-NA-121 pertaining to trans fluid.

The noise persists. It is marginally better. Better mostly around the city but still pretty brutal on the highway.

So, wondering how #19-NA-005 fuel tank filler pipe has been the long term cure.

thanks

Sal

To Update, They took the truck for almost a week, in October, Gm recommended changing the torque convertor. They gave the truck back to me while they ordered the part. About a month later, they changed it and no more noise. That has been good all winter and continues to be ok now that the weather is getting warm again.

Great suggestions!

Wow, these seems like exactly what is going on with my 2020 1500 RST.. The noise is like a circling metal washer just going around and around and around.. I have tried the A/c on and off, but never messed with the vent closed/open configurations to get it to stop.. Or haven't noticed it when they have been closed open.. But this would make a lot of sense as the sound is def coming from the front left area of the drivers side... I thought it was a Hub or break issue..

I was just going to create my own thread and saw this! I had the vent pipe bulletin fix 3 days ago, didn't do anything.

I was able to capture the sound on video and show the dealer- they had me text it to the mechanics cell phone so he could have that for reference. Is this what you guys are experiencing? The first time I noticed it I was towing going on vacation with my buddy. I had to pull over, I thought it was a wheel bearing on my trailer or chains bouncing on the road. He drove next to me and said it was loud as hell outside of the truck.

Truck is at the dealer now, waiting on a call back.. If anyone had this exact sound and found the culprit any help/ammunition I could give to the dealer would be appreciated. I am expecting that they find nothing wrong..

Starts with windows up, then down and gets noticeably louder.

Well dealer called back, "could not replicate sound". Drove it 35 miles. I agreed to let the senior service tech drive the truck home tonight, 40 miles or so each way. I'll get a call in the morning. Wont get much sleep tonight.

Any feedback on what the dealer found?

I just bought a CPO 2021 Silverado  RST and after 100 miles it started making the exact same noise as you recorded in your video.

This is exactly the noise from my 2020 RST, at the dealership now and they are telling me they don’t know what it is and to keep driving it.

I also have this same noise.  Did you ever figure out the issue? I had my fuel vent line replaced but still have the issue.

Was there ever a resolution for this?  I have a 2021 RST 3.0 Duramax with the exact noise.  It's been driving me crazy trying to get information on it.  It doesn't seem like it's mechanical in nature.

I have a 2024 2500hd Custom 6.6l gas.  Bought new.  Mine has a buzzing type noise that fluctuates with the RPM of engine.  Can hear it behind dash but not outside of truck.  Sounds like a high pitched whine when in a higher gear like passing a car. Any ideas?  Dealer hears it but has no idea.
