Ball bearings in the dash

Thanks for the video. This is a bit different than my issue. Mine is definitely something rolling back and forth behind the dash, sounds like it's to the passenger side of the infotainment cluster.

Found it with the help of a buddy. There was a loose screw in the plastic trim piece above the sunglass holder. Pulled the trim piece down and it fell onto the floor.

Location, location, location. Can't tell you how many times I had customer complain of rattle noise from the cluster or glove box area. Only to find the sun visor unclipped and rattling.

99% sure this is your problem. It was mine and it drove me nuts. Took 5 minutes to fix.

Thanks for posting this video. I’m pretty sure this is my rattling noise I’m getting in my 2016 Silverado. Gonna check it out today.

Yup. Took lower panel out apart and 3 of the 4 screws were loose. Tightened up and no more noise. That was driving me nuts for 2 years. Problem solved

Found the issue it's in the headliner where the sunglasses holder is the flat plate behind that where the light switch is it pops right off small flat screw driver there was a screw rolling around up there it does sound like it's in the dash but it's not 2 minute fix. Theres 2 screws that holds that on save the screw

Thanks a mill Geezerglide16, just fixed my "roller bearing in dash like annoying sound", I own a 2018 Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab and my first task was removing the front trim piece of the dash, finding nothing loose, then looked up for info (my mistake should have looked first) but I was so sure that it was in the passenger side front part of the dash I couldn't keep my self from taking stuff apart. After reading this post, removed the trim piece next to the sunglass holder and sure enough one screw fell down  after putting it back where it belonged checked the other screw and it was loose too (pics attached). Thanks to this forum and Geezerglide16 again!!

Its a screw in the sunglasses holder on the ceiling. there are two black screws that go into the ceiling. one falls out and lands on the center panel, which just pops out... look up instructions on youtube. bingo.

Lol, thank you, wonderful thread!   Same thing here this last week on my 2018, def sounded like passenger dash but alas the sunglass holder section was loose and it fell out and its partner was ready to go next.  I guess they just rattle loose after a few years.

 

....I put some loctite on those b*tches.   It's a bit tricky to replace the screws since it's hard to see, but well worth the effort.

My 2018 Sierra is doing the same thing now. Screw or nut rolling around inside the dash.  What did it turn out to be?

Same rolling sound in my 2018 Silverado. OMG, after weeks of those screws rolling around, that sound like marbles. (BTW from the drivers seat it sounds like it’s coming from the right dash, and from the passenger seat it sounds like it coming from the drivers side dash… crazy). Found this post, and watched the “fix 2018 chevy loose ceiling console ( no special tools)” on YouTube. The hardest part was putting the screws in. I ended up having to put a little tape around the tip of the screws to keep them in the housing then put the panel back up. There was no way to get my fingers in there to hold the screws in place to tighten. (Not gonna tell you how long it took me to think of that. Your welcome:-)

A magnetized screwdriver also works very well. And if you don't have a magnetized screwdriver, just attach a magnet to the shaft of screwdriver and temporarily make it magnetic...
