Is 6.2 worth $3700 extra?

Incorrect lol

Auto4wd is the same exact thing as AWD!!!!!!

go research the fundamentals of an awd system and our auto4wd system and get back to me.

Actually I’ll explain it.

The denali awd system - front diff is open, center diff is viscious coupling, rear diff is a g80 locker
K2xx truck system in auto4wd setting - front diff open, center diff is clutch pack (nearly identical in function to a vicious coupling just does it a different way), rear diff is g80 locker.

The only difference in function between the two systems = On the Denali, you can not chose 2wd, and you cannot lock the front and rear driveshafts together (also known as 4wd).

The new auto4 sytem also has a wider range of torque split between the front and rear. Offering anywhere from 5% to 50% torque to the front. The denali had a max of 40% to the front.

K2xx 4wd system with auto4 = there is absolutely nothing that the denali awd system does a better job at, nothing! Anybody who prefers the denali awd just does not understand how they work.

It’s not an opinion lol, we aren’t debating a color.

It’s quite litterally a scientific fact there is no measureable benefit to the denali awd system, other than possibly lasting slightly longer if you were to leave your k2xx in the auto4wd setting for it’s entire life.

If you prefer it the denali awd system, it’s an emotional preference to the term “awd” and not a logical one. If you’re ok with that, fine by me, just don’t try to explain any sort of logical/mechanical reason for it being better, because it’s not.

I’ve driven tons of awd vehicles, including the denali, there is no difference in steering of low speed turning between them and ‘14+ auto4wd. Zip zatta none.

The 4x4 system you have now is vastly supperior to that denali awd. You can select awd anytime you want in your new truck.

If you’re getting 17-18mpg highway on your k2 v8, you are the only person in the forum that gets that without mods or something wrong with the truck.

It’s all in your head.

Just trying to make you feel better about your new truck. Denali AWD was just marketing because so many yuppies buy the suv’s and want “awd”

I somehow doubt you made him feel better...:sigh:

I’m looking forward to the new 2020 AWD Escalade to come out, I’m emotional like that

Not a chance.  The 5.3 is a tried and true motor that loves high revs and just keeps ticking.  I will not waste any money on a 6.2.  Planning on saving cash buying extended cab rather that crew as well.  I work the LTZ i have now hard and it just works for me.

Doubtful it will be anywhere close to as nice as the new navigator.

And if they ditch the solid axle and give it a TT dohc motor, it likely won’t have any reliability edge over the ford. It might as well not be an escalade anymore, and might as well look at other brands.

I mean the main reason all of us like the denali and escalades boils down to the fact that we trust the platform to last.

The 5.3 is brand new for 2014. The only thing it carries over from the previous gens is the discplacement.

Not to mention if you think it has similarities to the old one, how on earth could you think the 6.2 is not tried and true.

So basically you prefer the 5.3 for cost.

My sister-in-law just did a buy back on her new 19, pc of junk. I’ve heard they’ll have a supercharger in them and I still love the Escalade over the Navigator, personal preference. Grew up in them and have always appreciated the craftsmanship that goes into them. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I would have never even considered buying a navigator over an escalade, never.

until I sat in it at the auto show. The navigator has the nicest interior I’ve ever seen under $200k

oh like you never had a discussion with a bunch of buddies and it went off track?

Dunno what your discussions are like, but the ones I've had could be about 6.2L's one minute, then boobs, then kiteboarding, all within 5 minutes.
