Looking like a class action lawsuit is forming.  An experienced law firm in Alabama (successful against Mercedes for same issue) is taking it on.  Here is the contact info:

Like I said, I look forward to warm weather when I give it a good hand wash and then use my orbital buffer to give it a nice polish.  Maybe April, May.  We'll see how this spring goes for temperature.

It's probably WAY cheaper to buy the truck and repaint it later when it needs it....

ALSO have a 2016 BLACK suburban LS (Hybrid/Flexfuel; 4WD). Bought it 3.5 years ago (April 16, 2018) w EXACTLY 50k miles on it, "clean" Carfax, "one owner", originally a Canadian Rig... (We're just a wee bit to the south, in the State Capital of [Helena] Montana). It was barely 2 years old and ALWAYS garaged. Never saw a dirt road or a hail storm. 

 

Well-- let's just say that the terms "garage ornament" and "pavement princess" have got NOTHING on my beautiful Black beauty (that is so lovingly adorned as my "SexyStella" 😍🥰) that only gets driven to WinCo and back --ONCE-- every 4-6 weeks when I venture out of my home on my one excursion per month (max).  It has 54570 miles on it and I've had it 3.5 years.

 

Despite her life story and current living conditions, it is shocking to see that the paint is actually chipping off in SEVERAL places, and it's doing so in large CHUNKS!!  .... Like 3+ INCH chunks!!  ... They're Mostly on the roof, the rocker panels low on the doors, the hood where it meets the windshield,.... And the hood is just flaking off like it's being splattered with Bebe's or something and I literally do not go anywhere or even back her out of my garage unless I go to WinCo ... So ...... I literally have zero contact with her for WEEKS at a time!! 

 

Anyone else have this happening?????

Have a 2016 Cadillac Escalade with same issue. Dealer tells me it’s a defect in the paint and I should call GM. GM customer service tells me to call dealer and they can help. Been dealing with issue for over a year trying to get assistance, but got nothing but the run around. Hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

I got lucky so far. March 2018 production date. Vehicle is kept outside and I do keep up with washing polishing etc. Still hanging in there. Fingers crosssed.

I have a 2015 Tahoe LTZ, having the same paint issues on the hood and roof. It looks horrible. Does anyone know if Chevy is doing anything for the vehicle owners to fix the issue?  We have a couple of 2015 Tahoes at work as well with the same problem.

Omg! My 2015 LT Suburban has exact same issues. and Corporate stated that the only thing I can do is trade I. the vehicle. It's already paid off. Is there something we can do? Class action lawsuit? I got quotes for over $10k to paint it.

I have a 2015 GMC Denali I took it to a car dealer to show them that paint was coming off on the doors I asked him to fix it they checked to see if I had gone over the mileage for them to do that I had gone over 10 miles and they said that I had to pay for them to fix it I told him I have paid a lot for that truck and I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t fix it even if I went over the 10 miles it’s frustrating when you pay a lot over $55,000 truck  the paint is still coming off my doors just because it had bubbles effective paint

Same issue here on my 2015 Tahoe. Started happening years ago on the hood. Didn't think it was a larger issue so i had the hood repainted. Now the entire roof and on to the door panels look horrible. Thought about having it wrapped just to make it look better but if this class action actually pans out i'd be happy. Curious if anyone has heard back from the law firm mentioned above?

2018 Suburban with hood and roof issues. The hood looks like it's on a 25-year old vehicle. I took it to the dealer today and they said this is a common issue BUT GM is handling case by case. Dealer said GM has a "secret algorithm" that determines what they will do for a particular customer. I left there somewhat confident that GM would step up and cover the repaint of my hood/roof considering that this is my 4th Tahoe/Suburban. I was wrong! The dealer called back with their offer about an hour after I left. Said that "GM will cover 10% of the warranty cost". So out of pocket for me is, HOOD COST $ 693.00 and ROOF COST $ 1,859.00. WE EXPECT BETTER GM! $60-75,000 vehicles that need paint jobs after 3-years is absurd. This is an ongoing issue that is being handled very squirrely. Accept responsibility for your defective paint/clear coat, GM Motors! My email address if anyone wants to discuss further- [email protected]

      Thanks!  I figured as such; GM and other manufacturers have used standard parts and harnesses across trim levels and such for decades.  I pulled the blank accessory cover off of my commuter van (a 2016 or so Chevy 15-passenger) years ago and found the plug for a USB outlet.  It wasn't connected to anything, though (I tried swapping in an outlet from another van).  I was a GM Tech years ago (late-90s) and was pretty familiar with my 2006.  I might be wrong, but I view newer vehicles (pretty much anything made in the past 20 years) as being a lot more plug and play.  Meaning, more unused wires and plugs unless you have the Mack Daddy of vehicles.

      not all plugs will be used.  gm uses more generic harnesses that support most/all options, and if your truck doesn't have a specfiic option, the plug won't be used (commonly will have a dummy insert in the plug , or it'll be taped up, but some may just be left as is).  But it's sldo possible some p.o. has installed the wrong/cheaper parts that aren't correct for your vehicle...

      First off, I'm not trying to just get easy advice/fixes for the issues I've noticed so far.  I'll be combing through the site via searches and such, and if past experiences are any indication, should find what I need.  For the sake of conversation, though, I figured I'd post the handful of things I've noticed in the 12 hours since buying my 2010 SLE CCSB.     Indicator lights: Airbag and TPMS.  The tire pressures aren't reading for any of the wheels, so I'm pretty certain the sensors were either removed, are damaged, or are otherwise inoperable.  I used to mount and balance tires 25 years ago but am pretty much ignorant when it comes to TPMS.  My 2006 didn't have the sensors and this might be the fourth vehicle I've owned that does.     Radio: Rear speakers aren't working.  I removed the driver's side rear door panel and checked the speaker and wiring.  I also removed the sill and b-pillar covers to check the wiring.  A few minutes of Google Fu showed that this is potentially a head unit issue.    Switches: Power mirrors don't turn left/right.  I ordered replacement driver's door switches that should arrive tomorrow.  The windows and locks work but it was only about $20 for all of them.  The driver's side rear window switch lets the window down but won't put it back up.  I think the passenger rear doesn't work at all.  In the coming days/weeks, I'll break out my multimeter to check all of that.   Unknown wiring harness: There's a box attached to the front driver's side of the engine compartment, right where the second battery shelf is located.  There are three plugs, one of which looks like it fits a standard headlight-style bulb (9007 or similar).  It doesn't look like it's plugged into anything.  I'll do some digging and if I don't see anything elsewhere on the site, post some pictures here.   Unknown plugs on brake booster: There are at least two female plugs on the brake booster that aren't being used.  I think it might be a replacement/aftermarket, so maybe those are used for a different application, as there don't seem to be any unplugged harnesses and no indicator lights are on.   Little squeaks when turning: Sounds almost like a bushing around the bed of the truck.  I'll have to pay close attention as I get more familiar with the truck.   Clunk on acceleration: possibly the infamous drivetrain clunk.  My 2006 had it and I'm just not familiar enough with this truck yet to fully grasp what it is.   Anyway, my apologies for the vague and all over the place post.  This truck is new to me, and it's been four years since I drove my 2006.  With 200k miles, I know I'll need to learn this truck quickly to avoid having any major issues, despite being confident it's got much more life to it.  My 2006 had nearly 320k on it when I parked it (nearly 300k of which I put on the truck), and it was still drivable then, though I suspected the head gasket might have blown.  I'd hoped to have that truck back by now, but it's gone forever, as I detailed in my reintroduction thread.
