I’m having the same paint issue on a 2015 Sable Brown Suburban.  GM should stand behind this, but it looks like they won’t.  Very interested in a class action suit.  I understand from one dealership that is is a common issue on all GM cars painted sable brown, not just the suburbans and trucks.

You really think GM should stand behind the paint on a 6 year old vehicle? You think the paint should still look like the day you bought it new? I don't think they should, they don't know how the paint was taken care of like never washed, waxed proper soap if it was washed for all they know Ajax could have been used to wash the vehicle. Vehicles paint has to be taken care of just like anything else.

I too bought a 2016 Chevy Tahoe in Jan 2020 that appeared to be in excellent condition.  Of course it had not even been driven much due to Covid in 2020.  The hood and roof started to look bad in December 2020 but was near impossible to get appointments or anyone to answer calls because of Covid.  It now looks absolutely horrible like someone took a wire brush and scrubbed it.  I contacted the dealership and they will not do anything.   Have you made any progress on your issue?  I also have another friend that purchased from same dealer about the same time and same make and model as mine and hers did the same thing.  They ended up having to pay to have it painted a couple months ago.

It's awfully hard to hide from Google.

It would be interesting to know if these are discord bots responding to each other.

We don't do R&D anymore nor do we do Product Testing. We hardly do engineering and science is out the window.

I'm standing in a Love's truck stop and hear over the speaker system..."Be a product INFLUENCER, like us on blah, blah, blah...and write a review"

This goes viral and next thing you know we tweet and retweet until we have a new reality. What a world we live in, eh?

I purchased a 2016 GMC Yukon XL last October 2020 with 57000 aprox miles. Now the hood and roof are faded and it has swirls like its no ones business. Took it to a reputable detail place and one look the owners said the paint is damaged and its factory paint at that. Any suggestions

Same problem with paint defect on hood and roof of 2016 Tahoe in Mississippi.  I am a lawyer and will be preparing for a class action lawsuit against GM and possibly the dealers who had knowledge of these defects through GM bulletins sent to the dealers but failed to disclose the known defects to customers purchasing the defective vehicles.  This is fraud and conspiracy between GM and the dealers.  I will be setting up a separate email address solely for this anticipated class action lawsuit and will post the email address later.  Please stay tuned.

Please give me any info on a class action suit.  Mine is a 2014 black Suburban.  The Chevy dealer body shop manager said it’s just not enough clear coat from the factory on the hood and top.

I just signed up with a law firm in Alabama that had success in a class action "paint issues" lawsuit against Mercedes.  I encourage others to reach out to the firm.  No charge to us, all on contingency:

Has anyone had this issue resolved? I have a 2015 black Tahoe LTZ and the hood and roof are fading and look horrible!!

Looking like a class action lawsuit is forming.  An experienced law firm in Alabama (successful against Mercedes for same issue) is taking it on.  Here is the contact info:

I was told by GM that I could contact the BBB to file a claim under the lemon law.  They provided me this link.  https://bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/bbb-autoline   In researching this issue, it looks like a defect in the clear coat.

    • Update for anyone following:    Installed everything as shown in diagram. Opted for 8 AWG from Battery Positive to a 50A resettable inline breaker. 8 AWG is tied into to 2x 12 AWG wires feeding a 6 way fuse bus in parallel (manufacturer’s design of what I purchased).    4 of the 6 fuses available for circuits are tied to terminal 30 of each relay. I tied a jumper from one of my spare circuits off the bus to terminal 86 of each relay. The trigger, terminal 85, was pulled from my interior by way of T-Taps from the X61A-X5 pins 10, 11, 17 and 23. This was the hardest part of the job. Even with the X61A unbolted and the X5 removed - there was VERY little wiggle room.  I added back up lights that I want to come on with my cargo lamp - but when I would check continuity between S48A-X1 pin 18 to its respective landing point on the X61A-X5 it triggers the factory relay… Instead I opted for a add-a-fuse on the passenger interior fuse panel (fuse location 10 - cargo lamp) and ran it through the boot on the driver side to my load. Did this to avoid introducing any electrical gremlins.   Note: Please check for continuity between the S48A-X1 and the X61A-X5. In my case wire colours were not the same as other’s who have posted. To do a continuity check you need a Multimeter. Completely disassemble the S48A-X1 and remove the brown face plate off the X61A-X5 by way of a flat head screwdriver - this was the only way I could get any results.   The outputs, terminal 87 of the relays, were fed into a junction box and landed at Individual studs and were labelled Aux 1-4.    At this point, all you need to do is run wire to your loads and bring them to ground. I created a negative bus in the engine bay, all my negatives land here.    For anyone having issues with all of your new aux switch lights coming on with the press of one - I noticed this only to be an issue when the battery wasn’t hooked up to my relays? No idea why, but it was quickly corrected by having my system buttoned up and functional.
    • Well I ordered the Autel ts508, and it won't work on my truck I tried all the 2023 and everything it just says vehicle not supported lol   I'm able to send this unit back, so I'm going to do that, then I'll just stop into a some tire shops and if none of them are able to do it, I guess ill have to spend a bunch of money to get a good scanner..... Thanks GM lol
    • Don't need the air tube but that's how everyone sells them. Most places won't remove that one piece and sell it alone. No money to be made. Hoping someone swapped theirs out for a CAI and no longer wants it. Not asking anyone to give it away. Offering to buy it but I don't need the tube. It's held on by a hex head screw and nut. Been all over eBay.
    • Wait, you guys are changing your oil???
    • If you need that mount looking piece.  You need the air tube.       Cheapest one I see on eBay - 2007-2014 GM Silverado 1500 Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Assembly 5.3L OEM 15901934 | eBay     Same price but free shipping - 2009-2014 CADILLAC ESCALADE 6.2L AIR CLEANER OUTLET DUCT ASSEMBLY 15901934 OEM | eBay
