Body Lift on 2017 Silverado

Thanks for the feedback. I bought the truck a few months ago used and it came with the 4 inch suspension lift. I'm not happy with the height at all so I just figured a body lift would work.

What is it you’re looking to achieve and how do you know it’s a 4” lift, could be a leveled job? When you can, take pics of your front suspension and rear leaf springs with block

You should have said that in the first place. I wouldn't have ripped on you.

What is your budget?

I work for a big car dealership. So a technician  looked at it and said it was a rancho 4 inch lift. I will upload some pics in a few hours. The truck has 22's and 35 nitto trail grapplers. I really didn't want to spend more then 500 bucks or so.

No body lifts please !

The way it was explained to me is that bolts achieve tensile strength through a hardening process. That strength is only designed for tension or shortening as when the bolt is tightened or the nut is tightened on the bolt. Bolts, even grade 8 are not designed for sheer strength or side loads. The longer the bolt, the worse the side load can be especially those supported by only rubber or polymer spacers such as those in a body lift kit. As the frame flexes the body shifts back and forth more than normal.

I have a friend that had a three inch body lift on his lifted 4 wheel drive regular cab Tacoma. Some idiot ran a red light and t-boned the truck low on the passenger door. The grade 8 body lift bolts sheared off and the cab rolled three times while the rest of the truck slid on it's left side. His girlfriend even though seat belted in was thrown through the rear windshield and killed. Investigation showed she did not die in the initial impact. It was the head trauma when she hit the pavement after being thrown from the cab. The investigation also concluded that if the cab had remained attached to the frame the outcome would have been different.

Totally understand, the kit is cheap but the install gets expensive. You’re going to need extensions here and there as well as skirts covering up the ugly space starting from the front bumper, side steps, rear hitch, bumper and exhaust tips. It’s going to look Fugly if these things aren’t corrected which guarantees you to spend much more than $500

Uploaded some pics. Let me know your thoughts. I found a zone 1.5 body lift and a performance 3 inch. I feel like the 1.5 isn't going to give me what I want as far as height goes and I feel like the 3 inch might look a little goofy running 35's. I should of just bought a stock truck and did it the way I wanted lol. Regrets.

You can still do it now, get a lift of your choice and sell (not for much) your current lift.....that’s what I’d do rather than get into all this mess especially when discussing body lifts.

I added a 1.5 inch body lift on my last truck. Couldn't really notice it was on there but it wasn't worth the effort. Same thing with 3 inch rough country "lift kits". If you want to do big tires on a 1/2 ton just get over it and get a huge lift on there.
