I have to say I find it laughable that there are people here that say to go for a minimum of 30% off.....While there are some volume dealers that can price some vehicles 30% off , that is certainly not the norm for most dealers, and you will have to be willing to travel to get that deal, and that 30% off includes GM rebates as well, so if GM doesn't throw out some cash to help sell them dealers aren't going to discounting them 30% or more on their own, no way...In my area, just about all dealers are selling them for what GM puts out for incentives , maybe a little bit more off ...So lets say a 60k truck and GM throws 10k incentives, now we are down to 50k, to get 30% off the dealer will have to discount another 8k on top of it, that's just not happening... UNLESS there are extra incentives for owner loyalty or lease loyalty or something that can be combined...At  certain times of the year, yes its possible to get that much off, but its not the norm for all dealers... I tried to get local dealers to match Lauras price, they flat out told me buy it from them, there is no way we can match that price, they don't know how they sell for that cheap.

There is markup in the invoice, then you have hidden money like holdback, advertising, dealer cash, volume discounts etc.

Laura gets big money from volume discounts. All dealers have room to move off sticker price, some will and some won't. If they said they don't know how laura sells them that cheap they are lying, they know good and well but their dealership just can't do it.

So I passed by the dealership yesterday to look around. Found an 18 Silverado z71 with bedliner, 3.42, heated seats, running boards, etc msrp 49k. I can’t wait to get my check from ford and see what I could get that truck for.

I would find a dealer that has no haggle pricing.

You can shop on the internet and find your best deal then show up and buy it. In my experience this is the way to go these days. Far less pressure on you.

This is a good idea. The only issue is I’m going to be pressed with time. I’m off from work right now so not too worried about not having a car. Once I’m back to work I’m going to need a car because my job is 55 miles away

I always have dealers competing with each other, between brands too. After all these car buying years I wouldn’t trust no haggle pricing. Half my vehicles have been CPOs the other the longest on the lot.

What's not to trust? There is the price right in front of you . If you don't like the price move on to the next one . Pretty straight forward if you ask me. And he's looking at a 2018. They have been sitting there a while.

I trust I can do better, my answer was pretty straightforward.

You must like playing games with 10 different dealers then and have too much time on your hands.  I don't have time for that.

If you can't find the best deal on the internet well I don't what to say.

Dealers don't like haggle pricing anymore. This is 2019 not 1979.

Really? Yep I used the internet, and get emails and quotes. For an old guy I type pretty fast. I can compare in one afternoon test drive the winner the next. I had Camry, Sonata, VW, Honda, and Kia going at it. Drove home a Camry for 17K it had a msrp for 27K. A new redesign was coming they were dealing. Two whole days is all it took. The first in front of my TV bing watching ncis. The second was the dance. After pretending to be walking out I got two years free maintenance and 5-80 extended warranty to boot. If I hadn’t compared deals I wouldn’t have known that VW was offering the maintenance and Honda was offering the warranty. Which Toyota matched. If you can’t put a few days into vehicle shopping you’re losing money. 1979 don’t think so.

Hooray for you then.

We are talking about new trucks here not Camrys

Some people can’t be taught. That was my latest example. My 2014 ( not 1979 ) GMC msrp 41K I paid 27K. The price wasn’t that unusual. The haggling got me nerf bars and a bed cover. I shopped 4 brands on the internet in the amount of time you spent arguing with me.

I'm not arguing .

I'm just stating fact.

Big deal you saved money. I'm happy for you

It was the last one they had. I didn't realize how hard they are to find until I bought it.

I checked about a dozen dealerships and saw one CC standard box but it didn't have heated seats and a few other necessities like that.

I got lucky mine had the LT plus package and most all the other options available on an LT. I also put some take off 22's from a Suburban on it . Then installed Katzkin leather seats so it's pretty decked out for a LT.

That one is one of three I could find with the max trailering package. The other two are just SLE Kodiak Editions but they have everything I need.
